Frag by steve jackson games dose this concept better, I even made a Quake III Arena character/weapons expansion for Frag back in the day, also recently used the Frag rules with the 2004 Doom board game to make a hybrid of the two games, fun times.

Has anyone ever told you that you come off like one of the scarily potentially/likely violent English gangsters/criminals a la a Guy Ritchie film (Lock Stock, Snatch, etc.)?

There is already an expansion, 2 years ago. It is a team play expansion and yes, characters have their own ability now.
