1st Edition looked a lot more D&D styled and more serious, prefer that considerably over the 3rd ed's cartoony art

What gross trash. There is another game trending in the BGG hotness (June 2024) that is also disgusting. Any complaint of it being inappropriate is instantly removed. That website is an echo chamber of woke cancer. Thanks for the review

In reality this is more of a party game than a strategy game. Lots of wine and beer and trying to steal customers from your friends and pushing your luck when you think you can. For those days when So Clover and Scout are to mental.

For me it's, 1) kickstarter bloat, both in amount of games and amount each game has. 2) Euro gamers ruin all non-euro games. 3) No one wants to play the same game twice due to #1.

Ahhh yes... 😊 I just wait for its mediocre score on BGG. The minis have the expression of a log 🪵 and I must totally agree: artwork is awful 😞 the color is ok but easily could have been way better.

How do tile draws limit what shares you can buy and when?
@BoardGameBollocks
@BoardGameBollocks 2 күн бұрын
You can only lay tiles, buy shares and draw tiles on you turn. The tile you lay comes from a random draw so if you draw crap tiles you won’t be able second guess which shares are worth buying.

A solid game, a real classic. There's a moment into the game where people get a little lost/stuck, but you have to explain to them how/why it's feeling that way. The "winners" feel stuck, the "losers" have money and freedom, and it seems backwards. You just have to explain that the value of held stock has gone up, they have points, they just don't have liquidity at the moment. Once that initial little hump is gotten past, people really get into it and have a lot of fun. Such a great game.

Just had a five player game of this yesterday (also Avalon Hill version). Always great fun and quick to play. I prefer it at higher player counts, the board being more busy somewhat remedies the random tile draw I believe. We used Iron Clays instead of the paper money for the first time and it makes the game even better. Although poker chips are harder to conceal than paper money, so some may consider player screens necessary.

Love it. I recommend prop money, poker chips, or whatever else instead of the cash that comes with it. Edit: We ran into the headache of counting tiles as well and think a great solution is to put dice on the tiles. Once it hits 6, just put another down so that each of the dice only goes up to 5. Them being on the board helps keep people from forgetting. Just have whoever adds the tile adjust the dice since they're already reaching over to it to anyways.

I like to bring out the old Avalon Hill edition and see peoples faces, at the sight of the somewhat boring presentation. Everyone, a part from a single person, loved the game and wanted to play again. One of my favorite games.

The Blood and Sand rulebook is an unmitigated sh*tshow. We spent four hours trying to decypher it and packed up the game. It's exhausting, convoluted and half-baked. The game itself looks gorgeous, but the f*ing rulebook ruins it. It's nigh unplayable because of it. Matagot can go ahead and piss broken glass.

whoa - had no idea that you do reviews of games currently in the crowdsourcing phase of their release lifecycle. I got in touch with you last year about reviews for some of our released titles - I would like to hear more about your practices when it comes to rendering a review for games that are not fully manufactured and released VS ones that are? I'd assume this copy was provided by the publisher since it's not widely available - is this sponsored content? all the same - appreciate the honesty of the review as always =)

I was told it was the completed version, then told it was a prototype, then told it was completed but with some prototype components. There was some confusion with regards to rules in this one which is why I dont review prototypes. Wish I hadn’t bothered wasting my time on this what with all the hassle it’s caused. I don’t do sponsored content.
