How about "Cortisone Acetate"? Where abouts in the chain would that come, and how is it synthesized? My body doesn't produce hydro-cortisone as I don't have a pituitary gland, so I take cortisone acetate orally. I'm curious to know how this is synthesized as well.

Well delivered, but Kaplan says, It's 21 (beta) hydroxylase which converts progesterone and 17-hydroxyprogesterone to 11-deoxycorticosterone and 11-deoxtcortisol, respectively. And FA mentioned, just (21-hydroxylase). Why did you mention 21 (alpha) hydroxylase? Reference?

21 (alpha) hydroxylase is mentioned in the book "Basic & clinical Pharmacology by Bertram G Katzung", 13th edition, Page 681 & 687. Many other books refer it simply as 21 hydroxylase.......But nowhere it is mentioned as 21 (beta) hydroxylase ......... Hope that clarifies ..........
