I think you’re right about the BB58. I’ve got the blue one, and I love it. I think Tudor would hit a home run if they offered a line of BB58s with a black dial, silver hands, & different colored aluminum bezels. Maybe green, red, blue, silver, black & white? Upgrade the clasp to a T-Fit, too…

I picked up my Rolex Rootbeer from the Glasgow AD 2 weeks ago. Its even more gorgeous in the flesh than in pictures! It will be hard for me to top this one!

Spot on! Waiting for mine to come in at Tourneau NYC. Definitely a watch that you have to see in person. Oisín O’Malley’s video is the only pic/vid I’ve ever seen that even comes close to doing justice to the rootbeer’s sheer beauty.

I had to double check Adrian's quote regarding Apple. What he actually said was "from what I've experienced already with this watch, their packaging, the way that they created this thing... they will be teaching the watch industry a few things about doing watches". I think that's fair. He's not simply saying Apple know watchmaking better than the established mechanical watch industry just that they approached watch production with a uniquely Apple perspective, and got certain aspects of it right in ways that the established industry could learn from.

Seamaster De Ville was made for the American market at the request of the US distributor . A relative of mine has one , bought by his grandfather while on a business trip to America. Gold plated/filled watches always have a steel back.

Glad to hear you like the root beer too. It wasn’t even on my radar until bloody Barker mentioned it. He planted that seed and a few months later I blew the budget and purchased one. It looks so beautiful in the flesh, and as a 50 yr old man I think you’re right about the silver fox analogy. It does seem a very appropriate watch for me at my age and will hopefully look right on my wrist for the rest of my life!

Appreciate that! Fantastic choice as-well. It definitely is my most worn watch at the moment.
@thereismoretolifethanrolex Жыл бұрын
I've offloaded my white SMP after about 18 months as it just stopped singing to me. Alongside my other divers, it stood out head and shoulders in terms of build quality and engineering, but as a dive watch, it was just too soft. I was drawn to it, as I often am with watches, by the things others don't like; specifically, the He valve and the skeleton hands. I loved the lustre of the ceramic bezel and the magnificence of the movement, but after repeatedly passing over it in favour of the Aquis Upcycle or Captain Cook Ceramic, its day's were numbered. I will miss the box though.

The best of the lot is that Seamaster from his grandfather. None other has that emotional value, but that will be for Adrian only. It's the meaning of a watch that makes it worthwhile. Which means the most expensive watch on earth can mean dogshit to most.

I ditched my Apple Watch, waste of money since you get stuck into always wanting the newest one, and since I give those fuckers like $10K every 2 years on Computers, phones and tablets they can have their watch. Too many distractions for a bunch of health readouts you really don’t need, there are a lot of “wearables” out or coming out that give more than enough critical info. Ours rings and similar products and wrist bands that allow you to wear a “real” watch. I like Adrian as an influencer, his charm, wit and knowledge are all welcome. His collection is a bit pedestrian, but it’s real. Let’s face it, our collections are reflections of what we like limited by the money we can commit to them. No one needs 10 Rolex, most look the same from a distance, now the dial differences are intriguing and that makes me move from SS Daytonas, to precious metal, of course then I wont be buying as many. Real 1st World problems.

Rolex, the Apple of watches. Overpriced, over hyped and underperforming. Not worth it! It costs $10 to make an iPhone, not worth $1400. It costs $500 to make a Rolex Submariner, not worth $10000!
@Mackster248 Жыл бұрын
It absolutely does not cost $10 to make an iphone. Not sure where you are getting these figures from.
@js0988 Жыл бұрын
@@Mackster248 You're right, it probably isn't even that much. If YOU go and buy every single item needed for an iPhone with taxes etc. It comes to $180. But the Chinese company that makes iPhones buy in bulk without taxes. And because Apple uses 5 year old components from Samsung etc. they're basically free.
@Mackster248 Жыл бұрын
@@js0988 $180 seems about right. But remember that’s just the materials. That’s not even factoring in the overhead stuff like paying the engineers for iOS, or engineers for design. Hell, doesn’t even factor in marketing. And that’s just a few. All of that is built into the price.
