It's not that straightforward - there are other investors in the team, with Newey himself having recieved shares, plus sponsors, and pretty soon the need to keep Honda happy. Given that Newey had input on the driver lineup written into his contract at Williams at the start of his career, I very much doubt that he's just a hired hand given where he is now, and the other thing to remember, is that Stroll didn't get to be that rich by being sentimental.

Even blabbermouth Alonso knows he can't criticise Lance, and Alonso usually says everything and anything. Newey has received shares, but he has not put one dime in that team like Lawrence has, every dime he has put in that team has been for his son.
