I'm Hungarian, living in Budapest. 4-5 years ago I met with Brody's mother, Sylvia Plachy at the opening of an exhibition of hers in Kunsthalle (Műcsarnok) in Budapest. I only got to know that time that her son is Adrien Brody. It was a suprise for me back then, and since that I pay special attention to the movies in which Brody plays. It was heart-warming to listen now this conversasation and I"m glad that Sylvia is still alive and could give advices to his son for this role.

this is amazing considering many Hungarians abroad don't bother to learn their language or just "forget". Him speaking the language having born in America is an example how much his mother respects her roots to the point she taught him one of the hardest languages in the world. All four of my grandparents immigrated to the U.S. as adults. My parents were both born in the U.S. but spoke English as a second language. I grew up with both Hungarian and English spoken in my home, went to a Hungarian Church outside of Cleveland and was actually a Hungarian dancer on the stage as a child and still cook all of the Hungarian food. I never realized that my straightforward honesty and outspoken emotional communication was necessarily Hungarian. It sometimes throws people off a bit. I thought it had more to do with growing up near Cleveland, OH than being Hungarian. Interesting, the things that we are accustomed to that are not generally considered the norm when raised with parents from a country other than America.

As a Hungarian myself to Immigrant parents although I was born and hungry, just watching this little clip it's not just the accent but I was blown away the minor minor mannerisms, you never know the difference. And it's something that nobody can understand unless you're Hungarian there's a certain thing there's a certain look a movement and a timing and it's there but nobody else can tell unless you're Hungarian there's something there that of course probably comes from Adrian's background as well but it's real. I am the son of a Hungarian immigrant mother. She arrived with her parents seven years after living in refugee camps after WWII. My grandfather was a chemist who spoke no English when they arrived in NJ. After several years of working in a garment factory, he learned enough English to start a job in the pharmaceutical industry. As political refugees, they could not return to Hungary. After over 20 years, they could finally visit with family and friends during the detente in the late 1960s. I'm very much looking forward to seeing this film.

just a bit careful with the USA part, okay? just dig a little behind all this American help, than you will see the whole thing from a different perspective. not saying more, I'll give you the chance to find out for yourself. for instance, there is a reason why Elvis Presley has a statue and a park named after him in Budapest. look that up too while you're at it.

@@XueYangbaby sadly we do not have an Elvis statue (yet), but as a member of the Hungarian Elvis Presley Fan Club, we truly hope that in the future we will have one But the fact, that after Elvis talked about our war, we got a lot of help from abroad and yes, we have a small Elvis Presley park in the Buda side. 1. My young Hungarian friend is uniquely outspoken in that yes, he always speaks up, but he's so serene about it and always finds the kind perspective to voice. I wonder if this quality is unique to their culture or is it just him. 2, Lazlo's story might have taken some from the real life experience of Erich Mendelsohn-- not Hungarian but much of his work-was destroyed by the 3rd Reich. A founder or Bauhaus school, his designs predated and influenced the brutalist movement.

Its sad that some Hungarians, who support a Viktor Orban have such short term memory. The 1956 Hungarian Rebellion vs. their Russian oppressors was brutal. Maybe a lesson to learn for the MAGA people, but doubt so many can grasp what fighting for democracy is all about, espec. when you reduce it to the price of EGGS!

True words. The current government is rotted to the core, and they've been purposefully brainwashing people, and sadly it works pretty well. Even if it doesn't the election system makes up for it, so there's very little chance of anyone else winning, and even if that happens, a bunch of people in their inner circle own half of the country so we're doomed..
