I've been a Ken Burns fan since "The Civil War", and I'm appreciative that he chose Leonardo da Vinci for the documentary. There's no one who makes better docs. on historic topics. But after watching both episodes this wk, I confess I didn't love it as much as many of his other docs. Usually the musical score/soundtrack adds to his docs, but in this case I honestly found the soundtrack loud, distracting and sometimes really annoying. The 21st century vocalizing just didn't enhance the experience. I think some vocal music or lute music from the Renaissance period would have been wonderful as the soundtrack.

Our country is in trouble. I cant say what I pray for every day. I am 64 and we said the pledge of allegiance to the flag at school in the Atlanta suburbs every day and even our Kiwanis Club did it in the 70s, 80s and 90s. I had a few teachers that would promote god, invite us to a spaghetti dinner at a baptist church and even have a baccalaureate service at a Baptist church where the Principal want and even sang at the service. But it was never overbearing. If you went to a "Christian School" that was code for a all white school so you would not have to go to school with blacks. Personally, I didnt have any problem with blacks, went to public school and really as many did, looked down on the "Christian School" racist and the "shove Jesus and god down your throat". Some of the wildest kids I knew went to those God schools.

The messianic idea in Trumpism is a real thing. The Clintons need to realize that their brand of politics doesn't resonate anymore.
