I always think that it’s so hard to make a judgement by just looking on line. To be honest and in my opinion, these three dolls are gorgeous! The quality is fantastic. Everything about their outfits is beautiful. I think Disney and AG did an amazing job with these.

I don’t think Corrine face mold would have been good at all in my opinion. Jasmine represents middle eastern, and Corrine mold would have been wrong representation.

You are absolutely correct on all of these issues. I love that you know so much about which Disney dolls have sold well in the past. I haven't followed any of that, so that was very interesting. You also make a good point that Disney may have stipulated exactly which dolls AG could and could not produce. I never thought about that. I won't be buying any of them, as they are too expensive. If they came out with Claudie as Tiana, I would be tempted to get her, but probably not for $300. Same thing with Corinne as Mulan, but not for $300. I would more likely spend $115 for Claudie and $115 for TM 124, and have both for $230. Thanks for sharing!

If these sell well, I am sure AG will try to repeat the success next year. In Disney collecting community Tiana is one least popular princesses among the ones that are included in the Disney Princesses franchise. Her LE dolls are usually available for a while. Mulan is very popular though.

You're so right, the Corinne face mold in a darker skin tone would have been PERFECT for Jasmine! Rapunzel's dress is stunning! And those freckles on the MG mold are adorable! I agree with you on the eye color. They could have just done the standard green, not the bright Felicity green and it would have been better than those grey-ish eyes that they are calling "blue-green" (although I love my 115!). Or even a new shade of green! I was expecting Belle's eyes to be brown as well. That's the version of Belle I'm most familiar with. I didn't even know they changed them to hazel! But often hazel eyes can look brown, so it's ok. My eyes are hazel and look more brown or green depending on what colors I'm wearing. I'm not getting any of the collector dolls, but I am getting everything from Claudie's new release!

Growing up in the 90s Jasmine was my favorite princess, but I just don't love the Sonali mold. The Corinne mold would've been much better! As I've gotten older Belle has really become another favorite. I wish they'd have given her brown eyes. I know a lot of people aren't crazy about the bright green eyes that Felicity has, & I suppose AG was afraid to use them for Rapunzel. Caroline's eye color would have been a great choice. I LOVE Caroline's eyes & I cannot understand why people aren't begging for them like they did Marie-Grace's face. Anyhow, I wish AG would have spread out the release of these dolls so that I could get Belle. As it is, I had to pick one & Rapunzel won out. She will be here tomorrow! 💜

I am considering dyeing a Corinne doll to turn her into Jasmine… Maybe I will love the Sonali mold Jasmine, or maybe Kat will love her, but right now I am ver skeptical. I actually love Felicity’s eyes. But I am also aware a lot of people hate them. Caroline’s eyes would have been a better choice, but I think they didn’t want to bother and order retired eyes, instead they used the eye they already had in production.

Honestly when I made my Disney princess display I used josefina as jasmine and dressed her in an $18 Amazon outfit and she looked almost as good as this $300 doll for about $35. Josie was thrifted

We were definitely at least half of the target audience here 😅 I have a collection of the Disney LE too, I have about 20 or so and the rags line was my absolute favorite. Rags Snow is still to this day one of my favorite 17" dolls. I was so glad when they made Megara. I agree with your thoughts 100%, Rapunzel is by far the doll whose design had the most attention to detail and the only one that shows the value. I'm reserving judgment on the "sparkly knit" fabric of Jasmine and Belle. I ordered Rapunzel instantly and I went back for Belle today but I agree, launching them together was a bit of a cash grab and I hope this is just the start of other Disney AG items. I am not really interested in Claudie, but it does seem like they are continually sidelining her with the twins and now the princesses.

I think they should have announced all 3, but released them a week apart. Disney used to release 5-7 designer LE dolls every fall and they did it , I believe collectors were happy. There was also an option to buy the entire set of 5-7 during the first week. People knew what was coming and were prepared to buy. It just looks like AG is counting on people panic buying.

This video is amazing. I can’t even imagine how much time it took you to research and compile all the graphics in this video. All of your points are so well thought out and accurate. In terms of AG being a luxury brand… it did always feel like the dolls and themes for accessories were “average consumer” oriented, but just at a higher price. Now with all these brand collaborations with high end companies that are frequented by upper class individuals (Swarovski, Janie and Jack, Loveshack Fancy, even Jeni’s I’ce Cream), it definitely feels like American Girl is becoming an elite brand geared more towards adult collectors with money, or children with wealthy parents. Like you said, it’s always been a luxury brand, but the curation of the clothing and accessories in recent years is very exclusive. It’s really nice though that you and your daughter both have an interest in AG and collect together. I think that dual interest allows you to understand the pricing and the justification of the purchases.

High end companies collabs, yes. The first time I heard of LSF was as when the collab was announced. I had to look it up and stumbled upon an article about LSF being THE place to shop for Upper East Side high schoolers (think Gossip Girl). I understand the appeal to sell to that social class, but I also see so many people with average income spending A LOT on AG over the years.

I am both a Disney collector since I was real young and AG one as well and I can sew and create, but I am not fund endowed so have to save up. It takes me too long to decide. And this is why I don't have any limited edition Disney princesses direct from the Disney store online. So I was so excited when I heard the news of the collab, until I saw the price, I would have been able to pay 200 max. Then I wasn't pleased with the color and mold choice for Jasmine, who was my first choice, and she was then already listed limited quantity a few days back. I agree on all the issues you bring up. That being said I am happy you were able to get all three. I can't wait to see them in your reviews.

AG missed the mark with Jasmine. I think AG outfits are so much plainer than Disney store’s, yet the price is so much higher. Yes, AG dolls are higher quality and more expensive than Disney dolls in general, but I was very disappointed when I saw the outfits, and even more disappointed when I got to feel the fabric. They just don’t feel like a luxury item. Lots of seamstresses can make better outfits from more luxurious fabrics for $100. Kat likes them, otherwise I would be considering reselling them once they seek out on the website. Kat’s Mom

@@rainbowunicorncat1 I don't have any of my childhood collection but I had figurines and dolls of Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella and a Cinderella watch, plus books, plus I had some Disney Vogue Briket dolls. And puzzles and other such things. I lived in L.A and my grandparents lived near Disneyland. Now I am starting to collect Disney Princesses again. I do rescue dolls as well, so have various doll makes. I love most of the Animator Collection, the Disney Princesses and I adore the Disney store ILY dolls. I love Minnie as well so got her D100 doll when it went on sale and was surprised how big she is. I do also get the resin Disney box and have no qualms in Disneybounding my own clothes.

I know I can sew a much better outfit for each doll, somewhere in my patterns is an official Disney 18" doll one or even two. And Dallas Dolls and One of a kind dolls make beautiful wigs that are not top heavy. Since I know how to sew traditional Indian clothing, my ex was from India, I am planning on making clothes for Kavi, mine as well as my granddaughters upcoming birthday gift. I think Jasmine would look beautiful in traditonal Rajput/ Rhajastani clothing.

It does feel like a middle finger when they released them all at once I just bought Rapunzel and even if I had the money I think I'd just buy one. I think almost 1000 dollers is too much for three modern dolls. I'm more interested in early gotz prototypes to be honest then crystal encrusted modern dolls. ❤

I enjoyed this discussion involving the other Disney collection dolls! Rapunzel is one of my favorite Disney Princesses (it's hard to pick only one haha) and while the eyes are irritating at the same time I'm not really mad about it? From a design standpoint, I think her eyes go great with the doll. If they were a loud green like Isabel's I don't think that the doll would have looked as nice. It would be more jarring than cohesive in my opinion. That said, it would have been nice if they had a little bit more green in them than what it appears to be in the photos. I have not collected any limited-edition dolls before of AG nor have I of any brand yet (unfortunately), UNTIL this release! I'm very excited to be receiving Belle and Rapunzel in the mail. I will be likely taking them out of their box to display, but sometimes I may put them back in their box. Who knows. I do fall in the category of wishing AG would focus on the historical line because it matches their original mission, buuuuut since these are limited edition it makes up for it in a way rather than being something you can get at "any time".

They could have used Blaire’s eyes, they were a very natural shade of green. What they used is Molly’s eyes, which are considered “gray”.

However I am quite relieved I don’t love them as a $300. doll would be quite difficult. I think they should be priced just above the regular AG doll price. I was so upset to see that once again AG seems to be overshadowing Claudie! There are THREE big releases right around her second release, it's the second time they've done this! 😠 It really seems intentional, which is so sad. 😥 I agree that Rapunzel's outfit was by far the most thought out, but even though there is lots of detail in these outfits, as a sewer of doll clothes, I really don't feel that they are very good quality, certainly not $300 quality anyway. I kind of do want them, but once again the price is very offputting. In addition, I am really torn between which one I would get if I decide to because I will defintely not be able to afford all of them. 😕

Great review. We have had many of the same thoughts. We agree that Corrine's face mold would have been a better fit for Jasmine. The boxes definitely do not go with the dolls. They each should have gotten a box in a color that goes with the individual princess. And the price is steep for most of us. I definitely can't afford all three at once. I really hope American Girl watches your video and reads your comments section and listens. 💛🩵💜

Dropping $1000 worth of new collector items is a slap in the face. I get it, they want to make money, but they can make money AND please their fans, which will lead to long term customers.

I'll be honest and say I actually think this Jasmine doll is gorgeous, but you're right, she would've looked better with the Corinne mold. And I'm bothered by Belle's and Rapunzel's eye colors, especially Rapunzel. The boxes are a cop-out. It's so irritating that they released all three dolls at once. Especially with all the new releases: Claudie's outfits, the back to school release and TWELVE birthstone outfits. Way to give everyone FOMO.

i disagree with frozen being more popular than tangled with adults, i honestly think most people prefer Rapunzel. maybe that's just the Tumblr fandom but i would say they picked the right princesses. i think the jasmine doll's skintone is a bit too dark for a middle eastern character but otherwise i love these dolls!

I am judging stricktly by the prices of the LE dolls on the secondary market and how long it takes for a doll to sell out. With the exception of Regal Elsa/Summer Anna, Frozen dolls sold out within hours, and there are I think at least 10 17” Elsas. There are no other characters that come even close to that amount of dolls. But this might be just Disney LE collecting crowd. I personally like Rapunzel more.

I agree that many families will never be able to afford AG in the first place, and many will prioritize other things. But in PC times this was clearly a luxury product and a status symbol, not meant for everyone . Right now they are trying to market it to everyone, and they even have the Affirm payment option, which IMO is great. The fact that AG is trying to make their products look affordable doesn’t mean they are affordable for everyone.
