As someone who got into Space Ghost at age 11 (i think, I am not a math guy, I am an animator, go figure), you're gosh danged right he's a pioneer. This show shaped my sense of humor in a huge way and as mentioned, the tragedy of falling into a career that pays peanuts (sometimes) but wouldn't have it any other way thanks to shows like SGC2C. Enjoy it all, then enjoy it all years later. That's how it's gone for me for the last two decades wherever/whenever it comes to mind/is findable for sale, and is timelessly funny and Cartoon Network I think is in debt to George for the success they went on to have with Adult Swim and so on. Legendary.
@kaylahalder27995 жыл бұрын
"Fascinating? No! Time Consuming? Yes." Well, that's exactly what I'm looking for.
@tottycapsgg4 жыл бұрын
Space Ghost, we salute you. George, you're actually a superhero. I can't believe I just stumbled across this over a year late..but super glad I did. George Lowe as SG has been present in my life since I was a tiny lad watching SGC2C's first run, then return, then where I could find it around the net, then on DVD, now across streaming and download on demand as a grown ass adult, truly and literally a voice of a generation of comedy cartoons that nothing following in the AS lineup (or much else actually) has managed to de-throne as an improvised controlled disaster of beautifully stupid that is endlessly funny. Some of the darkest points of my life, I remember flipping on sgc2c wherever I could find it, and depend on it to get me laughing. I honestly never wish for a reboot of SGC2C without George Lowe, and if they did, I think they would have to pay him in gold bricks, and modify SG's character-age to match Lowe at this point, simply because he MAKES that character, and to try to match Today-Lowe to Then-Spaceghost would be the saddest most backward way to do it. Minus the millions Lowe deserves for likely a giant chunk of success CN enjoyed after SGC2C and it's influence and entire spin-off shows, I think Cartoon Network/AS knows and respects the un-matchably funny delivery that repurposed a 60's cartoon character/cast into one of the best cartoon shows ever made; at least enough to do this interview, leave Space Ghost Coast To Coast in the dormant but gilded throne of legend it deserves- unless all parties runited for a 'pulled from retirement' age Space Ghost revival run. Literally, like, Cartoon Network's equivalent of 'disney-vault' master-stroke shows that was of a time/writing/voicing that should respectfully be left alone, but deserving of praise and endlessly re-watchable and funnier two decades later. It also helps that I get a lot of the jokes that weren't meant for me at like, 10-12 years old haha. Anyway, George Lowe, you'll never see this but cumulatively with other cartoon media/animation from my childhood, from ninja turtles to ren and stimpy or anime-break-out in America with Ghost In The Shell all resulted in me becoming an animator. So that's tragic and I blame you, and endlessly thank you for it, and your work that makes Space Ghost both a period-piece of a show, as well as a timeless gem that IMO still goes unmatched. "AND WHAT ABOUT THESE BEAAANS?"
@HarukoPlease5 жыл бұрын
The man, the legend. You guys should give him a new space ghost show, I know doing a full on revival without Clay is not possible but a spin off with a different premise might work. I just miss Space ghost really
@tottycapsgg4 жыл бұрын
The best way this could work is if they aged up space ghost's character to match Lowe. That in premise is already really funny, but it would also pay respect to George Lowe and the character he made Space Ghost into, and would be way, way more genuine and wouldn't disrupt the canonical landmark genius that was the 90's run of this show either. I think trying to throw him back into the same character as the same character he was in the 90's would be too...tryhard, or much less honorary (and funny) than if they tied Space Ghost to George Lowe now in the character, and as a voice actor, who have gotten older. Lotta material could be written with 'yanked from retirement' age space-ghost, and wrote around that that instead of trying to reproduce the energy of the original run. Same character, but different era, a character out of place and time, out of place and time even more could and probably would be wonderful. We can dream friend, we can dream
@TerrenceNowicki9 ай бұрын

I don't understand why, when SGC2C is one of the offbeat strokes of genius that if CN had a 'Disney-Vault' equivalent- SGC2C would likely be the first in line-- George Lowe is not filthy gosh dang'ed rich from his unmatchably funny voice of Space Ghost. Same with Martin and all the rest of the staff on that show. Then again, some of the best stuff winds up this way as it goes; I hope if nothing else he knows how important and revered he is by (myself included) life-long fans of his role on SGC2C, cartoon planet, etc, and that his work continues to be appreciated regularly. It just sucks the kickback residual$ aren't funding a 'what expenses' retirement for him the way it should. Totally agree he deserves like, a gilded statue of thanks and a steady stream of revenue for how good his work was/is, and how, I think, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim directly owe their years-later ballooning success to him directly.

It does kind of make me sad that his voice seems like it's getting...kind of frail, for lack of a better term. Not as crisp as it used to be.
