It’s probably the reason he sabotaged the marriage. Rick is too spiteful and petty to see Jerry actually being a decent father and husband. He hates Jerry cause Jerry is everything Rick isn’t. The comics have this really good story with the doofus rick universe. Since that rick is the dumbest, it has the smartest Jerry, and its really cool. I honestly think that people give Jerry too little credit. Like when you compare him to Rick’s values, yeah he’s utterly pathetic because he’s a total idiot and pitiful coward, but at the same time, he still actively loves his family and tries to make himself better as the show goes on such as being able to admit when he’s wrong like in the camping episode or stepping in and saving Rick from Birdperson when previously he would have ran away. Rick on the other hand is so arrogant and insecure that he’ll go to extreme lengths just to avoid admitting he was wrong, and has shown time and time again that while he may love his family, he doesn’t treat them right and is constantly a toxic presence in their lives to the point that they’ve put up barriers around him. That’s why Jerry’s a perfect foil for Rick because his good and simple nature keeps coming out on top, despite Rick’s immense intellect and god-like abilities. If you really want to know who’s winning the feud, you just have to look at how Jerry’s relationship with the family has changed since season 1 and how Rick’s has.

I'll be kind of bummed if there isn't a Jerry out there beyond the Finite Curve that's as smart as Rick. Bc remember Rick sealed off a portion of infinity to satisfy his own ego and to kill the Rick that killed his family. The Finite Curve is ricks personal um, "super multiverse section"?? Where he exists as a focal point across the multiverse. With the curve now broken. All bets are off on what's beyond the wall Evil Morty punched through. Chances are there's a Jerry, a summer, a Morty, and a beth, that are all as smart as Rick is. Whether or not they have their personalities intact is anybody's guess.
