I saw Hunter Dunbar at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

I was very very fortunate this weekend and got to meet Devon Sawa/Hunter Dunbar at a convention. He gave me some fun insight about the filming. Travolta, a known method actor, refused to break character. He would show up everyday in costume, mullet and all, and in between takes, he would rock back and forth and mumble things to himself. Which was kind of sad if you think about it because that means Travolta is actually trying his best during this.

I think that he didn't get along well with his son Jet (now departed, and who was autistic). I think there is a grab-bag of mannerisms which he's projecting from what he knew of his son. Just because he was arrested doesn't mean he'll be convicted, remember. The gardener never saw Moose, only Dora ever did. He only vaguely knows there was a man creeping around the estate, not anything about his appearance or personality. It makes more sense to assume it was the fault of your employer who regularly flies off the handle and drinks alcohol with his meds like a dumbass. Forensics will figure it out and the celebrity will probably still end up charged with manslaughter if Moose dies from his injuries, or some other thing for using excessive force in his self-defense (and failing to call the police) if Moose lives. (I feel like the end of the movie hinted that he died, but I couldn't tell if he was wearing the wings or if his friend was and that was supposed to be her saving him after the worst night of his life...?) Anyway, just because they don't show it happening, doesn't mean that's not what happened. Y'know? Eh. I guess it doesn't matter either way, given how batshit this movie was.

That moves WAY past self-defense. When you reach the point where you are stabbing out the intruders eyes and kicking them down a flight of stairs as they actively try to escape you and (we didn’t see it here, but it happens) you also start shooting next to the intruder’s head for no purpose other than to terrify them while they’re down, you have passed the limits of self-defense. Shooting his fingers off and punching him though, that was fine and perfectly justified.

Olsson 2025 I think they’re expressing the feeling that people get when they see something cruel and wrong. Like if you see people laughing while burning a puppy with cigarettes, or the “invisible ink prank” video from daddy of 5 where two grown ass adults are screaming at a child crying on the floor, or the countless videos of police violence from the recent George Floyd protests. I remember this feeling from reading the book “a child called ‘it’” in middle school, the book is an autobiography about being an abused child, and when I read the more graphic scenes I remember wanting to cry, puke, and scream, everything your body wants to do when something is seriously wrong. They feel this way about how to movie treats autism and mental issues, and how moose as a character is written and treated. BUT having some levity like people joking in the less serious/ fictional situations can make it easier to digest the situations. Still not good but “almost bearable”. Hope I helped.

You guys remember how John Travolta had an autistic son? I wonder if that influenced his performance at all... Edit: Legitimately though this was uncomfortable to watch from a personal perspective. My brother is on the spectrum and I can't help but have mixed feelings about his portrayal of someone who's also on the spectrum. He gets a few of the common traits right, like rocking back and forth as a self soothing mechanism, displaying anger/anxiety, intense obsessive interests, and struggling to communicate with people in a socially acceptable manner. But I can see why people are clowning on his performance. It really comes off as a disrespectful stereotyped caricature of autistic adults despite his first hand knowledge with raising an autistic child.

With a good script and directing and dropping the stalker being on the spectrum angle, I could actually see this concept working. Like a thriller/horror movie about a celebrity being stalked in the age of social media could work, and I’d love to see someone outside limp bizkit take a crack at it.
@yikesyourchunkyhostilityha23212 жыл бұрын
I disagree with the dropping the stalker being on the spectrum. If it was REALLY good. They'd know how to do it respectively, while also being the kind of movie that tells ppl "he's a killer due to outside reason, not due to him being autistic."

@avpman1504 жыл бұрын
Phil Swift Because art is about what makes you feel, and not everyone is effected by the same things, therefore art is subjective. Sure one can evaluate different types of art by scrutinizing it on a technical level, camera work, grammar, etc. But that doesn’t change the message or the feelings/effects it has on a person. Adum often criticizes plot holes and technical issues such as sound and cinematography. That can mean a movie is not technically well made, but it doesn’t mean the movie is bad, as long as it conveyed some sort of emotion(s) to at least one viewer out there, then it is art. So, that’s why I don’t like critics. Sure their technical points may be valid but that doesn’t mean the movie is bad yet it will turn away those who may like it because they’ll end up taking those critics own word for it when it is nothing more than an opinion. No person should be allowed to say a movie isn’t art when there is clearly someone out there that is effected by it. TL;DR A film can be poorly made but that doesn’t make the film bad, someone will like it. Edit: Forgot to add, Adum is a person with an opinion, but they’re not some expert on what movie is good or bad, no one is, not Stuckman, RLM, RtMM, IHE, or anyone.
