Explaining Vedantic concepts in the art form you practice is an untouched topic predominantly. Learning that you were groomed by Swami Dayananda Saraswat Maharaj teachings makes me derive how you could be such a rare amalgam! Explaining Advaita in simplest terms of Ego and Witness or the Drashta and the roles played drives the philosophy into our understanding well. As always in adoration 🌷

Beautifully said.. “Knowing” and “understanding” are related concepts, but they’re not the same. Each is a distinct mental state involving cognitive grasp: Knowing is static, referring to discrete facts, while understanding is dynamic, describing the ability to analyze and place those facts in context to form a big picture. you showed the bigger picture to every one... great soul.. respect you mam

Great speech as her dancing; i was very much impressed by her statement that" You cannot Judge Ravana and act as Ravana together"; very much true. While we perform things we seldom judge ourselves, because we are one with our actions and there is no higher level from where we observe ourselves. Only when you detach mentally and emotionally from your own actions you can do that. That is the level of a Yogi. Again from the spiritual point of view every body is in the ladder of evolution, what ever be the present state of existence, because ultimately there is nothing other than Athman. All evils are the byproduct of ignorance or Maya. Only when the light of realization shines forth within evils end. Lastly i would love to add, the shortest-cut to spiritual experience is through performing arts. Even without the burdensome intellection it takes us to the supreme Rapture, even though it is transient. But that gives us an insight that such a level exists for every one to achieve.

The thought process and the parallels that she is drawing is fascinating! I really learnt something. There was one aspect though that was not covered, perhaps for lack of time. That is, in each one of us there is the quality of raavana and the quality of raama as well. One can view the individual's (self) role in the advaita context (complete annihilation of one's ego) or as non-advaitic, meaning with a degree of duality where there is the false ego but not complete annihilation of ego. Bhakti saints have come in both advaitic thought (Thayagaraja, Kshetrayya) and non-advaitic (Annamcharya, Purandara Dasa). The other point is on witness as truth (sat). Where she draws the parallel of the witness as being present in the "third muktayam in the second svara", which I see this as a matter of muhurtham or timing coming from rhythms (in the universe). As witness is non-judgmental.

The disappearance of ego feeling or one pointed attention during the performance is mere dhyana or at the max samadhi experience of patanjali's ashtanga yoga and has nothing to do with Advaita Vedanta. I'm surprised how Indica titled this video as "Advaita"

Sanskrit is the mother tongue of all languages in ancient Vedic culture. In ancient times, Female rulers had mothers of all languages in Tamil and Kannada. Majority of Tamil speaking practice around the world during Kumari Kandam Lemuria & Jambudveepa. The vast majority of Kannada and Sanskrit languages are used for mantras to worship God. Later Jambudveepa peoples give rise to Hindusium Buddhism Jainism. The classical dance forms recognised by the Sangeet Natak Akademi and the Ministry of Culture are: Bharatanatyam, from Tamil Nadu. Kathak, from Uttar Pradesh. Kathakali, from Kerala. Kuchipudi, from Andhra Pradesh. Odissi, from Odisha. Sattriya, from Assam. Manipuri, from Manipur. Mohiniyattam, from Kerala.
