Advance Landscape Systems joined hands with Conservation Volunteers New Zealand (CVNZ) for a remarkable planting event at Waikākāriki, in the Horseshoe Lake section of the red zone, in celebration of Matariki. This wasn’t just about planting; it was about restoring a wetland to its natural beauty, reconnecting with our environment, and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Aotearoa.
Our Canterbury team got their hands dirty for a cause that aligns with our mission of promoting sustainable landscapes. In just over an hour, we planted 168 native Carex, a type of grass crucial for wetland restoration. The goal? To help bring the wetland back to its original state, supporting biodiversity and creating a thriving habitat for native species.
Working alongside us was the dedicated team from AsureQuality, whose hard work and enthusiasm were infectious. Together, the two teams managed to plant over 300 natives, making a significant contribution to the restoration efforts.
