Todd, Great Job! I'm so glad I found your videos. I've been working with planswift for years and figuring stuff out by trial and error. So many things I've wanted to do, but after a lot of frustration I either had to start from scratch or just plain gave up. Thank you for making these, you have really helped me out a lot. Just wanted you to know I appreciate your work.

Hi Todd, Great videos as usual! I have been trying to setup up planswift template for the company I work for. I wanted to have a dynamic user input based on the selections the user will make. I know there is a way to setup input condition for a single property. Problem I have is this condition will be applicable for several conditions. Is there a way to setup an Input Condition referencing a multiple selection (or preferably callout a List) instead of a single property similar to below? Input Condition: '[Property1]' = '' If there are more information required, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

Great work digging deeper into PS. I have tried this path in the past and was lead to using an SQL list. So with great enthusiasm I created an SQL list (file)and linked it to the 'List' feature in PS as you would any database. I had hoped I had solved this problem, but it basically acted like any MS Access file..... boring. Then later, I had the pleasure of working with a couple of sharp developers who created an AWS file in the cloud, used an API call to reach it and had luck making it work. The only problem was they used a C++ developer to make it happen and that is outside of my wheelhouse knowledge wise. If you have a programmer or can use AI script, I can show you how to input the code into PS..... Let me know how you do. You might try the tree list also... it is very limited. You can reach out to me via my PS-DR.com website

Hey Todd, Thanks for the videos. Is there a way to refresh data on old jobs when prices change. When I change the cost each in my access file the list updates but it doesn't transfer the price change to the part in my takeoff with out going into the advanced properties of the part and manually reselecting the price. Thanks!

That is an excellent question.!! First of all you can change pricing in the reports for that job. This is way faster and easier than using advanced properties. Try a materials report that has a Cost Each property or column showing and go to Grid View, if you change it there it should change if on the estimate. TradeTek.com has a plugin with some of that ability, but it is an API call and you will need a strict DBase with part numbers that need to match up, and will need to be in the cloud. It is expensive. Personally when I estimate for companies, I always update the materials after getting quotes and I do it through the grid view in Reports. It does not take long, maybe five minutes for a material list of a hundred parts. I recently made a job property that had the material pricing in it and you could change the price of the materials for the entire job there in a matter of minutes. This only works well if you have less than 20 or 30 materials that you always need to adjust. If you need more help, schedule a free half hour with me at my scheduling calendar at www.ps-dr.com. Great questions, hope I helped and thanks for watching!

Hi Todd. im having trouble loading my MS access databases to planswift 11. do you have plans to make an updated tutorial?
@ToddKaberline11 ай бұрын
Hi it should still work, I have clients that have recently switched over and had no issues. did you save the MS Access file to the 2003 format? Also make sure that you are refreshing or restarting after loading the Access files. Hope this helps.

@@ToddKaberlineThank you for your reply. I did figure it out eventually, but i wound up exporting my access database back to excel and then recreating my access database using your old tutorial as a guide. I'm currently developing a very robust Microsoft Access database with lots of properties and integrating it with my templates. I've begun a project that I'm really excited about and I'm learning a lot in the process. My goal is to eventually create a plugin to distribute within my company. However, the challenging part will be creating a tutorial that explains how to link a file to each person's individual copy of the MS Access database. You've been a huge help.

So, You are able to store the plugin in One Drive and have everyone link to it there in a shared folder. If you use the same file path it should transfer with the plugin you create. Remember you can share your templates, reports and layouts by creating a plugin. There is a video in my advanced users channel that will walk you through that. Job properties will also need to be included if you are using those. Best of luck! and keep me posted
