they had to make it pop adder's theme on GBA/DS is one of the most annoying songs in the series, but the added bass melody and electronic throttling during the "chorus" on the CO power theme instantly fixes it and makes it one of the most kickass tracks in the whole game

@@brandonlee934 Maybe in character for who Adder was interpreted as in this remake, but in the original AW2 Adder was hardly the type to laugh maniacally, he had an understated menace and a gloating sort of laughter under his breath. Hardly any of the characters in this reboot are a 1:1 to what they originally were, and if it was for the better I wouldn't complain but it isn't.

Adder really looks unstable in this game. At first, he just seems calm, some animations even show him bored out of his mind (though mostly out of arrogance against his opponent), somewhat soft-spoken in voice even if the words are codescendent...and then when he talks about his atrocities he get fully psycho mode, and when you destroy any of his units he really flips out in his animations.

It's crazy how Adder is actually an amazing character design...gameplay wise. His biggest strength is his simplicity. He has no Day-To-Day of any kind, his only gimmick is his small power charge. And the powers he gets out of them? They are literally just a +1 and +2 to all his Units' Movement respectively. You'd think "Wow, that Simple as fuck...he is probably pretty bad then" and well, you'd be right.... But that doesn't mean you should underestimate the sheer utility and deception getting +2 Movement THAT quickly can give him. He can use it to make his Tanks and Battlecopters faster, in order to catch all your precious units that you previously thought were safe, but he can also use it to escape even when you think you trapped him in the range of your NeoTank. OR he can just keep it on standby to annoy the living shit out of you, as you have to constantly monitor his attack ranges to make sure none of your units are in range for whenever he pops it

If both powers loose just one star, Adder probably would be broken or at least extremely dangerous just by sheer utility something as mundane as additional squares for movement could be. And indeed, whereas I play AW 2 campaing, while I always check the enemy range for attack for every single move and CO, I noted I always make double checks with Adder as my opponent precisely because of that. Lash reducing the movement to 1 could cause the same effect but usually you try to get the good terrain before her so is not as demanding in that aspect unlike Adder who simply gets additional movility, plus you do actually have to watch out Adder's air units unlike Lash.

I really like the design changes to Adder. He really looks like the lanky jerk I envisioned him as. The kind of guy who fights by being just a little faster than you, hard to pin down, and he pops his power at the worst times(or... All the time...) when your T-heli WAS just out of reach of one of his fighters as one example. It really is amazing how big an effect +1 movement and a little bit of extra dmg and def can do when he can pop it every 2-3 days. You just can't kite any of his units.

Fun fact: Adders CO description states he charges his powers faster than other COs, but that is not actually the case. Adder has the exact same power charge rate as any other CO (1 star = 9,000 Funds), what the description refers to instead is that Adder has the lowest possible star cost for both his COP (2 stars) and SCOP (5 stars).

@@Anaklusmos42 In the originals he had the exact same power charge rate as the others, and while I haven’t tested it out myself in the RBC yet, it would be weird if they gave him an impactful buff like that, considering how true they stayed to the originals over all. As for the second part, his SCOP is very situational. It can be worth using, but usually you want to spam his COP. If you have his SCOP ready, you can decide between one turn with +2 move or two consecutive turns of +1 move. There are a couple of things to keep in mind though: 1. with each power activation the cost of a power star increases by +20%, making powers much less common in later stages of the fight. There is a cap to this, but I don’t remember the exact numbers right now. 2. a power activation in AW2 gives your entire army a +10 defense boost. 3. activating a COP when you have more charge than necessary will have you pay a penalty cost of the excess charge, I believe it is up to 50% of the COP cost. 4. power stars are calculated based on damage received and damage dealt. The amount of funds you take damage will be fully added to your power bar, whereas you only get 50% of the funds worth of damage dealt to the enemy added to your power bar. Adder wants to use his COP any time he has it ready to go, as it allows him to quickly apply more pressure on the map and also grants his army a very nice defense boost while it is active. His SCOP is usually not worth using, as it takes more than twice the amount of power charge than his COP, but only doubles the effects of the COP. In some niche circumstances it is worth using, but you are usually better off opting for the two consecutive COP turns if you do have it ready, which gives you two turns of +10 defense as well.

For example, if you had 3 stars charged, and used a 2-star power, you wouldn't have a full star anymore afterwards because the price of one star has increased, even though your current charge points stayed the same.

Adder's character design is defintely less scary, but that's just because his old design could barely emote due to limited sprites. He's still an open book of arrogance and haughtiness who can't back it up and is reduced to making snake sounds upon defeat.

Sniveling, pretentious purpleish villain with a huge ego, secretly plotting, and it never ever works. Nobody takes them seriously but themselves. They're endearing

Even though I don't like the direction they took with Adder's design and voice casting I can't deny it's a great vocal performance. Which shouldn't need to be said, but... many of the VAs did a rather poor job. To be fair many of the bad line reads come off as being the result of poor vocal direction and/or lack of context. Perhaps they were independently recorded from home? The voice acting was seemingly finished by mid 2021 so Covid lockdowns would certainly explain why.

I love how the remix's dubstep kinda sounds like a struggling engine at first, before going into overdrive. dubstep screetching like the engines are after adder makes his men overclock those engines before going full force.
