The risks for abuse are huge. Local PD requested thousands to purchase drone. To monitor railroad for trespassing. #1 tracks are privately owned. #2 90% of the tracks within 5 miles of airport. #3 video is transmitted via hackable means as just demonstrated by some group. #4 was always intended to use such surveillance to look arbitrarily onto adjacent properties and act on any violations. The use of a drone for a specific task involving pursuit of a criminal or surveillance afforded by a warrant. Or search and rescue is one thing. Arbitrary patrols, peeking onto private property without permission is going to far. Rules need to be put in place before this gets out of hand. Personal privacy on ones own property is a right that is eroding away at an alarming rate. When someone can spend a 100 dollars to watch their neighbor sunbathing in a fenced in yard. Or law enforcement or municipalities using it to gain unfettered access to private property with no cause other than they have the ability to. Does not make it right. I can buy a car that can do 200+ mph. Doesn't make it legal to drive it that fast anywhere I want. FAA and the court's need to get off their butts and set clear and concise rules that put people's rights to privacy. Ahead of perverts and random searches.

@@MaskedMazter no I'm not nitpicking. But if someone is flying a drone over my property to watch my wife, daughter, or granddaughter sunbathing to get their jollies off or sell it on the internet. I should have the right to shoot it down. But I don't. I'm all against over regulation. But if people can't be civil and respect one another and tables favor offenders and penalize protectors of their own property and family. That's a problem. It's already happened because moronic drone users have abused it. They are a great tool to share wonderful things. But also have the capabilities of doing great damage or harm. Who gets the pass? Offender or the person sunbathing in their own back yard? Heck they don't even allow drones in a lot of national or state parks. But you can fly it over my backyard? Think about it.. A few ruin it for the many.

It's a coincidence that the gvt is letting crime rise and that they do not intervene, that they are letting criminals out of jail and now coincidentally drones can come and be our super heros. Yayyy!!!!! And I'm sure it WILL Bring crime down since we have allowed it to get out of control.

Think about this, your iPhone connects to the drones to “tether” your phone, instead of having them be remote controlled as normal ones used to be, there is a reason for it. What could that reason be? Government pervert spies and if they don’t like you, the technology they have can be used to hack into your phone. I wouldn’t be surprised if they could see, what you can see; through a drone.
