Dear Julie, I can not thank you enough for your in-depth explanation regarding the negative forms " couldn't've, wouldn't've, shouldn't've " which had puzzled me for a long while before i came across your comprehensive video 💖 🤩 🥰 Could you also help me out to verify whether the five ways in your video are always CLEARLY pronounced with 3 syllables " COULD - N - UH " / " COULD - N - TUHV " as i heard at times, to my foreign ears, those phrases might've been pronounced with only 2 syllables " COULD - NUHV " - the nasal plosion D-N sound, in this case, seemed to be omited (?! ) or swallowed (?! ) by fast speech of native speakers ???

Hi Phy Hai - Thanks so much for your question :) It's possible that a syllable is dropped in fast speech, but I'd have to hear the native speaker to know for sure! I'm glad you liked the video :)

What about the linking "for the"?. When the R and Th connects, the th disappears, right? Thats the way rappers pronounce those words
@SanDiegoVoiceandAccent
@SanDiegoVoiceandAccent 3 ай бұрын
This is a great question! I pronounce the TH in "the" when linking the phrase "for the", though the TH is usually pronounced very quickly, and the tongue placement is most likely going to be reduced (the tongue tip won't come out between the teeth - instead it touches the back of the upper/lower front teeth). I hope this helps! :)

Hi Mathers - I've heard it referred to as both! I prefer the term "plosion" but it's OK to use "release" instead :)
