It was so wonderful to teach a class on Instagram Live today (please excuse Maya’s barking!)… I honestly didn’t know what to expect and in trying this totally new thing, found a new community and an electricity within myself. Thank you to those who came along, and maybe joined in, no matter your skill level!
I think maybe this should be a regular thing on Mondays? I know it woke me up for the week ahead…! What do you think?

Hello, I know this is an old video, but I saw that Lauren lift her heels a little when she did her demi pile (5:50). I always thought you have to keep your heels down for demi pile. Is this normal the way Lauren did it?

is there certain schools that dont lift heals on second position grand plie and others that do? ive always been taught not to, but im not in any ballet company, so im wondering if i was taught wrongly or theres just diff ways

I always wanted to become a dancer, but my parents didn't approve. Now that I am an adult, I took up ballet a year ago and love it, but any choreography that I was taught felt very superficial and rigid. I still loved being able to express myself on a nominal level, but I didn't know how liberating it could feel...until your video. Your choreography was piercing and resonating. I almost started tearing up while (clumsily) following along. Thank you, Lauren, for showing me what it truly means to express myself through movement.
