Rhythm is often something we neglect as guitar players; I've come to the realisation that it really is the foundation upon which we build our lead playing, and certainly worth giving our time to. You're the best, Jack. Keep them coming!

I agree. He's actually over my head at times, but I take that as a challenge so it forces me to improve.

My learning nowadays between books and being self-taught is all based on what I call somewhat half-jokingly my KZbin based curriculum which is friggin' immense.

@@michaelgottlieb9083 Make notes of things you learn from KZbin with channel name and topic name because after a while you will forget what you worked on because material keeps on increasing,so when you open your notebook you read and you know what you have to practice,it will be very helpful for future also 🙏Hope it helps, also there is one very good exercise after knowing your scale and modes of it try doing away from instrument exercise where. You write major scale modes without your guitar it will really open up your mind to visualise the notes on fretboard, try doing all 12 keys in single attempt it will just open some next level things in your brain

Fantastic lesson Jack! I have been waiting for something like this to come my way. I am a huge Robben Ford fan. Thanks for this. I have been going through your Brett Papa courses. The ideas on triads and double.stops are pure gold. Thanks brother! Please do put out a course for blues rhythm and chord tone soloing. Would love to take it up!

Great stuff as usual Jack. My learning nowadays between books and being self-taught is all based on what I call somewhat half-jokingly my KZbin based curriculum which is friggin' immense. Robben Ford often talks about a jazz guitar book he used back in the day by Mickey Baker Book 1 which bought back in the 70's and still have and use to this day.

This is a great lesson. I've just subscribed to your Patreon account. Will the tabs for this lesson be on there? The Robben's Chords part and the upper register chords will be easier to grok that way, although I sure appreciate being shown how to play these things on the video as well.

Jack, I've always understood altered chords to be a dominant 7 chord with a sharp or flat 5 and/or a sharp or flat 9. So the D altered chord that you describe at 3 minutes 15, isn't the flat 13 note better described as a sharp 5?

I was totally with you (and loving it) until you mentioned an altered scale. WTF is that? LOL Good thing I was paying attention to your previous lesson on vamping with 9th chords.
