Is this the most powerful strike in kobudo? After 2 broken shinai we had to wrap up the video. This is the reverse side strike or Dragon's Tail, my favorite bo technique.

It is good you did not lapel the video bo staff, biggest pet peeve in martial arts is people not knowing bo means staff in Japanese

The shinai has some give but if you watch the first video in the series this was designed to show traditional kobudo isn’t just dancing with a stick and has real power. We scale up in power and let them decide when to stop. I have a video in the works that will demonstrate some of these techniques at full power

You’re correct but if they held the target in line with structure it would hit them. It’s safer to demonstrate a few hits this way than risk getting hit by the target or worse the Bo. We will have a better demonstration in the future that doesn’t compromise the joint of the person holding the target

@@JasonNishime Wel that would be a lot off entertainment hitting the target whilst in a frontal position^ Probably better to place the target in some device. And perhaps place some pressure gauge in there to measure the “damage” (yeah I’m a number’s guy)
