Jab (1). Very simple, quick and effective getting from point A to point B. ☺
@diosdadoapias7 жыл бұрын
Jab is a lead straight punch; and straight line is the fastest to go from point A to point b. the curve or circular line is slower to go but applied in a punch or kick the circular strikes can be stronger due to the longer travel generating higher speed.

@EffectiveMartialArts7 жыл бұрын
Hey Naori, indeed, you should aim to punch with the middle finger knuckle predominantly, but sometimes you do make contact with the top 2 or even the bottom 3. It is not wrong, as long as you properly condition your knuckles to withstand the impact. Might do a video about that later... Hope your year is off to a great start! - Patrick

Should the cross land on the center point of the chin, or should it land on the side of the chin?
@EffectiveMartialArts4 жыл бұрын
Ideally side of the chin, if you can get an angle on your opponent. But straight on will create damage as well. Street, be careful if not wearing gloves, as you could cut your knuckles on the teeth, so ideally straight on, the best target would be the nose. In boxing how many punches,blocks,slipping,stances are there ?
@EffectiveMartialArts6 жыл бұрын
To make it simple, you have your straight punches (Jab & Cross) and your round punches (Hook, Uppercut & Overhand), which can be executed with both hands. On the defensive side, you have long range punch blocks/deviations, as well as short range Turtle Blocks. Check out our basic punch block video for their explanation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3KXnmd8mpl7g9E. There are also 5 basic head movements, check them out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHicYWyOZt9ri80. What is the diffrence between a jab punch and a cross they look the same.
@EffectiveMartialArts4 жыл бұрын
Good question. The Jab is a straight punch thrown with the lead hand (the same side hand as your foot that's in front), and the Cross is a straight punch thrown with the back hand. They both employ the same trajectory, and pretty much the same upper body mechanics, but you will be twisting your lower body on the cross. The Jab is faster, and Cross more powerful. You got a video taking multiple people down I got ganged in highschool not too long ago?
@EffectiveMartialArts4 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. Multiple opponents is tough, your best bet is first to learn how to fight, then apply these guidelines: 1. Get away ASAP. 2. Position yourself to see all attackers at all times as much as possible. 3. Do NOT go to the ground. 4. If you are strong in the clinch, you can use one guy as a shield against the others, at least temporarily. 5. If you do go to the ground, you would prefer being on bottom, as you can possibly use one guy as a shield if you hold him in a tight closed guard. But again, your best bet is to work on your fitness, learn techniques and principles to fight well, and practice diligently to develop those skills. Check out our PLAYLISTS page for everything you need to know. Hope this helps, and good luck 🙏 - Patrick

I’m not getting the diffrence from jab and cross ..they look the same .
@EffectiveMartialArts4 жыл бұрын
Hey Ahriyana, indeed they are similar, both straight punches and the upper body positioning is nearly identical. The difference is the Jab is delivered with the lead hand (the same side than the leg that is in front in your fighting stance), and the Cross with the back hand. For that reason, the Jab is generally faster, and the Cross more powerful, since it covers more distance and engages more of the lower body for its delivery. Hope this helps! - Patrick

In your other video you demo your basic kicks. I thought you the basic kicks are front kick, side kick, back kick and round kick. The groin and push kick, I think, are variants of front kick . on the other hand, the turning kick is just a back kick done with a complete turn.
@EffectiveMartialArts7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info, dosdadio. Indeed different teachers will select different kicks to be part of their basic curriculum. Those are simply the ones we chose to teach to beginners first, but there are many kicks to practice, which we will be covering in more detail in future videos. - Patrick
@diosdadoapias7 жыл бұрын
Thank you sir. Your response confirms that one can make his own curriculum on what is best for him. I believed that even if you learn all the kicks and punches you can use one or two of them in a real fight. So why not master one or two kinds of kicking and punching; and practice the others as supplementary training. BTW sir, do you teach your student small area strike like extended knuckle and finger strike; and on how to practice them to withstand impact? Thank you.

@EffectiveMartialArts4 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that, Jufri. You can’t control your brother’s actions, only your own. The best advice I could give you is work on yourself, get stronger with good fitness training, and absolutely learn how to fight. Check out all the most recent videos on our channel for that. Most importantly though, DON’T SHOW EMOTIONS when your brother hurts you. Fight back, and try to stay calm inside, or at the very least, hide your pain. Bullies do what they do to get an emotional reaction out of you; if you don’t give it, they are more likely to stop. Hope this helps, abd good luck. - Patrick
