The legendary Peggy Lyman teaching advanced Graham technique ... OMG! This is like a dream. Fantastic class. Almost all the Graham technique I've learned from the Internet. This class is by far the best. A huge thank you and warm wishes to Peggy Lyman from a humble Graham devotee in Sri Lanka. You were unforgettable in "Lamentations!"

I've always wanted to tak class with Peggy Lyman, but i never got around to it 😢, but i absolutely loved my classes with Susan Kakuchi, Kevin Predmore, Jacqulyn Bulglisi, and Kazuko Hirabayashi at The Ailey School during 1999-2003. The amount of information i learned. Graham technique is my favorite Dance technique. The levels and elements are vast and outstanding! ❤❤❤❤

What a wonderful teacher! I studied Dance and Drama at Dartington College of Arts in the UK at the end of the 1960s. Our teacher was the fabulous Flora Cushman, and i don't think we realised how privileged we were. The tution was all free in those days too! Warching this, I can feel every movement, right diwn to how the floor used to hurt the tops of my feet on some of the floor exercises! Best wishes to all dancers everywhere!

Love this. Quite doable too. Can’t get out at the moment, as everyone else. This is great. Also well paced. Not too fast, just right. I always feel that going slower is better for strengthening than speeding along.

What an incredible gift of light in these dark times. The technique in all its glory! The music is magnificent, too. I studied Graham technique in my 20’s with Dance June Lewis in New York, then in my 40’s by auditing with the dance department at Temple University where I now live in Philadelphia, then with Jeanne Ruddy Dance Company, and most recently (last year in my late 50’s) with Jennifer Binford Johnson at Kun-Yang Lin’s dance studio. As an adult amateur, it’s nearly impossible for me to find classes and resources that help me to learn. And yet, I still want to recapture my skills and progress in this technique that speaks to me so deeply. I’ll try to work myself up to this.

😂 Interesting! I saw the Graham Company at BAM, excited to see Maple Leaf Rag. The three (4?) other pieces on the program that preceded it were sooooo solemn, and...dreary. The 3rd piece was described in the program as '...a dance of sorrow...' and I had to chuckle because they all were sorrowful.
@FelixDance883 жыл бұрын
Very tortured, tight and held-in. Painful looking! My hips hurt looking at this. Dancers are strong. Shapes are dated. Perhaps evolve the core technique to incorporate more release? It seems like the logical conclusion
