I got into photography about a month ago and I have always been amazed at the many beautiful edits from seasoned photographers on Instagram and KZbin and I've always wanted to do such kind of work. However, I always saw it as an overwhelming task and that can be scary, but this tutorial has really helped me in not only understanding the various tools in lightroom and how they work, but also the creative aspect of photo editing in general. Thanks so much for this. God bless.

Very useful edit. I have to say you do the one thing many editors don't do which seems to make perfect sense and that is to make lens correction and chromatic aberration changes first. That makes tons of sense, yet lots of people on KZbin don't do it. I like your workflow and agree you deserve more views which you will get from me for sure. Workflow alone makes this video worthy of the time.

Hello, I'd like to know how to add or setup all the masking, crop and Iris tools you have right under the Histogram, I cannot find the same icons you are showing on this video.

Hi there! Are you on Lightroom or Lightroom Classic? I'm on Lightroom Classic in this video. Masking has also changed with an update since this video! Still in a similar location though

Just found your page, instantly became a fan. Rookie question for you - A lot of the time when I see grading done, I see multiple adjustments made in color, you started with split tone, then camera, then HSL. I'm trying to wrap my head around the multiple adjustments in different settings. I see the end product and how great it is, but why are so many adjustments in different tools necessary? How would this effect the photo compared to strictly sticking to HSL? TIA
@JC2023HD Жыл бұрын
Since you had decreased the highlight, by lowering the part of the tone curve corresponding to the highlights, didn’t you just undo what you had done before? If not, would you please explain?

There are a lot of gee-whiz tricks and effects here but it seems that there a point where one crosses over from photographer to graphic artist where the final creation is all that matters (i.e. removing objects). Nothing wrong with that but I simply want to correct for less-than-optimum exposures and limitations of the medium in otherwise keeper photos. I was very happy to discover the Vertical Transform correction earlier this year for example.
@TKNORTH3 жыл бұрын
Like you said, nothing wrong with that! It's definitely a line that varies for different people, a lot of professionals make more corrections like removing objects than most people probably realise, others who don't. It's not black and white so everyone can have their opinion in mind :) I had this shot planned out when the car parked there, we waited but they stayed there... so removing for me was not a big issue, just the shot I wanted. Adding shadows etc isn't actually something I would usually do but do hope some people found the technique useful!
@brodylockwood14 Жыл бұрын
If the only thing you want is to correct exposure then literally just adjust the whites and black and highlights and shadows. Surely you could see from the thumbnail that this video had a lot of editing.

Usually Lightroom lens correction overexposes a photo, I've noticed it multiple times and best is to decrease vignette corrections in order to get a better photo, sometimes a photo looks better with it's natural vignette.
@natejpc11 ай бұрын
This is great. But how come you didn't share the final steps you took for the completed edit? Looks like you've used a linear gradient to reduce exposure in the bottom and top of the photos. It's clearly a lot less exposed in the final edit compared to the last adjustment you made in the tutorial.
@nikyabodigital3 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why you have to go back n forth lightroom and ps. When there's literally camera raw filter inside photoshop which is exactly same with Lr
@watching-youtube-nowАй бұрын
I don't think that what you call shadows in the tone curve section actually corresponds with the actual shadows in the image. The road sure is a bit dark, but giving it blue tint while saying "give these shadows a bit of blue" seems false.
