Yes, he is playing Factorio 2.0 but without the new Space Age DLC. It has a lot of QOL improvements so its a good time to give it a try

Additionally to the QOL comments that are mentioned, there are some Space Age-specific mechanics only available if you have the DLC (e.g. belt stacking, spoilage setting). (Note that these require an additional mod to work.)
