I spent so long trying to figure this out after watching your original video. Seems very unintuitive. I'm sure it makes more sense if you understand the underlying code.

you only need different numbers while copying the blueprint to make them appear as different bars in the parameters. once its a blueprint you can adjust the values of the field as you like inside the parameter options. look at them as another variable instead of a number (1 is X, 2 is Y, heck dont use single digits at all, it doesnt matter) but once you copied the build into a blueprint you can freely change the number so you can simply make it 7 deconstruct planners, and simply switch it to 1 afterwards. or make it 23135k deconstruction planners.

Yes and I want to be able to copy the blueprint again to future builds such as with foundries, EMPs, biochambers, cryo plants, etc. Also if you want to make a version with modules, etc. Cause once you occupy the same value, you can't then split those signals again. Far easier to just keep them separated IMO!

@Krydax8

its super easy to switch types, i showed how to do that in the previous video. Same applies to making it so that there are modules in the building for the blueprint. That's best left to the viewer to customize :)

Thanks for pointing out that you can turn on the parameters in the settings, didn't know about that and it makes editing these a bit easier. I found a couple things that might be useful to share. If you'd rather use a filtered storage logistic chest than a passive provider chest, you can do so and put the parameter zero value as the filter on the box and it'll automatically set the filter to the item you pick to make. Reason why you might want this is if you'd like the bots to return items you trash back to the box it originally came from, sort of acts both like a requestor and provider in that way and cuts down on the random clutter storage boxes around the factory. You can also check the 'trash unrequested' on the requestor chest and it'll remember that, reason why you might want that is if you are making something that requires items that can spoil (ex: stack inserters), spoilage will eventually fill up your requestor chest unless you check that box to have bots remove it. And lastly, instead of using the deconstruction planner as a place holder to grab the stack value, you can use one of the unused parameters like 7. Then when in the parameterization mode, set it as "Ingredient of 0". Since nothing has an ingredient #7, this will make that parameter simply disappear from the requestor's list and you still get your Stack value variable. Good luck with the factory!

So, you can edit the value field in the parameterization. I edited that value, saved the blueprint then selected new contents then I had an extra parameter in there that I was able to use as the stack size.
@Krydax8
@Krydax8 Күн бұрын
the value for what? You need something to set the value OF to be able to have it as a parameter.
@fg3136
@fg3136 Күн бұрын
Dude, for this you dont even edde parameters, you can input the item and the amount of stacks with a constant combinator, then set a selector combinator to stack size and conect the outputs, now add an aritmetic and multiply the output of the selector bby the amount of stacks, now you will have how many items X amount tof stacks are. Use the output of that arithmetic and compare it to the output chest, when both are equal you can emit a signal than will disable the assembler. Thats how I did it at least, and I dont need to create one copy of the machine for every Item I want to manufacture
@nsshurtz
@nsshurtz Күн бұрын
Except that requires combinators which ends up taking up more space.

I have released a second video explaining how to add in the "stack amount request" that I alluded to in the video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYLMi3qLi9V2q8k Functions you can use in parameterization: lua-api.factorio.com/latest/concepts/MathExpression.html Absolute value: abs() binary logarithm: log2() Return sign (or 0, for 0): sign() max & min of up to 255 arguments: max(), min()
@infernalz1337
@infernalz1337 2 күн бұрын
Thanks I was looking for exactly this. Also I like to use buffer chests instead of passive providers, and if you stick a value in there, you can have it auto request (I have it set to 40, buffer chests have 48 slots) stacks of whatever it is you are crafting so like when you replace a bunch of belt all the old belt goes back to the buffer instead of storage to wait to be requested again, and you won't make anymore until all the old stuff gets used! And the main reason I was looking for this is it takes so long to setup a bot mall when you have to configure the buffer chests to request 40 stacks and the output inserter to only place 1 stack in the buffer chest. Also I just thought of something, I always want to be able to request something to platforms incase I need something on a different planet, would that mean I use max(p0_s,p0_r) so if a rocket can hold more than 1 stack it will make up to 1 rocket worth?

I really think I would have benefited from having a proper mall blueprint, because I ended up doing four different mixed belt/bot malls that were all different from each other and all required different designs rather than just getting slapped down and letting the bots handled it.

*EDIT* I'm wrong - the formula is the same as Krydax8 states. The maths functions are commutative in this instance. The formulae are exactly equivalent. Doh! Leaving this here as exercise in humility... This is an absolutely great video, but I think maybe the formula is wrong for computing a minute of ingredients. Shouldn't it be p0_i1*(60/p0_t) You want to compute the number of item 0 produced per minute: so that's 60 seconds divided by the crafting time in seconds Then you want to multiply this number by the number of ingredient 1 in 1 craft. Which yields min(p1_s,p0_i1*(60/p0_t)) min(p2_s,p0_i2*(60/p0_t)) min(p3_s,p0_i3*(60/p0_t)) min(p4_s,p0_i4*(60/p0_t)) min(p5_s,p0_i5*(60/p0_t)) min(p6_s,p0_i6*(60/p0_t))

So this is an incredibly modular version of a mall which can just create any thing you want for x seconds and be plopped anywhere within the logistic network. So this is esentially crafting with a bit more steps for the Lazy Bastard? Amazing! Although I do wonder what other benefits there's to parametrs outside of logistics networks, I think you can use them for trains as well, but other than that if you don't have bots unlocked yet they aren't that useful no?

@Krydax8
@Krydax8 5 күн бұрын
Well if the block that is in front of your intersection is full, a train will not be able to enter it. If you want to keep intersections clear, you'll need to use chain signals, which I also made a video about! Regular signals alone aren't going to make intersections very efficient. But they will at least keep things from crashing!
