Correcting the textbook's solution to number 9 we will use this problem to find the equation of the graph, explain where the fastest and slowest rates of change occur and find an instantaneous rate of change using a centered interval.

On the last rate of change question my first Y value is 20.220 (degree mode). Is your value of 21.365 (radian mode) more correct - more appropriate, or both? Is there a general rule/best practice for applying radian mode?

If you are given radians in the question you should answer in radians. Not sure which question you are asking about but that is the rule.

at 13:14, should the slowest IRC point not be 46 instead of 48? Is that an error? Please correct if it is. Thank you for the amazing video.

Yes, you are correct. It’s pretty much impossible for me to correct small mistakes once the video has been uploaded (without redoing the entire video) so I’ll have to rely on people reading the comments. Thanks for watching! 😊

Hi Ms.Havrot, would the fastest IRC for every sine/cosine function be at the axis of the function and the slowest IRC be at the highest and lowest points of the function or is it different for every trig function?
@mshavrotscanadianuniversit6234
@mshavrotscanadianuniversit6234 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you have the right idea. The greatest rate of change will happen where the slope of the tangent to the function is the steepest and that does occur half way between the max and min of the function which, as you said, is where there axis is. There is zero slope at the max and min values.

so helpful, thank you so much. I just have a question, why is it - 4.5 and not just 4.5?
@mshavrotscanadianuniversit6234
@mshavrotscanadianuniversit6234 4 жыл бұрын
Please add a time on the video when you have a question to help me find it more quickly. I'm assuming that you mean at 12 min. The amplitude is - 4.5 for the sine function because if you start on the axis you can see that the function goes down first (which means that it is a negative sine function). In the normal (positive) sine function it would have to go up. Hopefully that is what you are asking. If not, let me know!

miss if we are using (Y2 - Y1)/(X2 - X1) then wouldn't it look something like: (19.035 - 21.365)/(5 - 3)?
