😢sir i can really express myself very well with basic English whenever i use what i learn from you no one around me gets me right even though our major is English language teaching in Turkiye.that puts me down cuz i just can't find real people who speak advanced English.I have fears that all I learn is forgetful cuz there is almost no use to what i try hard to memorize
@Sunflowersarepretty

That's exactly what my fear is too. Even though english is taught in schools here (where I live) its not good enough. I haven't found any speakers who speak good advance english so deep down I get anxious that I'll lose whatever I've learnt so far. 😢

In light of transmitting a positive, impactful message, this video completely came out of the blue while I was searching for some valuable idiom content for my CPE preparation. Furthermore, I was able to comprehend everything you explained with flying colors, which definitely helped me stay on the ball. As funny as it may sound, I had an identical change of heart to yours this very morning, with regards to pancakes. Nevertheless, I didn't take the easy way out and finally set my mind to it, turning up with some gorgeous, tasty oatmeal pancakes. Last but not least, had it not been for your brilliant KZbin video, I wouldn't have come up with such elaborate answer. That being said, I reckon that becoming proficient at English implies fighting to the bitter end. Thank you, teacher. Hope you enjoyed this. 😉.

I must be on the ball, couse I knew all of them😊. My native language is Spanish. When I was 12 I moved to NYC, then at 23 I met my Italian husband and moved to Italy. It's been 19 years. I watch and read just about everything in English, because I'm afraid to forget it. Ironically I now know more words in Italian and English than I do in spanish.

Question: When someone says "I'm sure" does that imply 100% certainty? Ex 1: Bob: Turn left at the stop sign Tom: Are you sure its left? Bob: I'm sure its a left turn. Ex 2: Jim: Should I be worried about this injury? Rob (not a medical professional): I'm sure you will be fine. When people say "I'm sure" ....how really sure are they? Is there room for error? Is there a difference between sure vs. certain? Thanks!

Thank you for such a valuable lesson on idioms. I really like the way you CUT TO THE CHASE. Now that I've learned those I'm ON CLOUD NINE. In fact, there is no CUTTING CORNERS when it comes to learning a language. I first CUT MY TEETH on idioms when I was 18 and after a few years struggling to learn most of them, I was AT MY WITS' END. But we need to GIVE OURSELVES SOME SLACK for not knowing many of the idioms because there are just too many. Learning a language is a painstaking process. You can't just FLY BY THE SEAT OF YOUR PANTS because you can GET THE WRONG END OF THE STICK. Learning idioms are fun and we should always GIVE IT A WHIRL. If you can't seem to improve your English like me, just GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD and HIT THE BOOKS. Does it RING ANY BELLS? Please TAKE MY COMMENT WITH A PINCH OF SALT. Just being silly here. 😅
