1) Having said that Example: You are very passionate about what you do. Having said that, I contacted your previous employers and they said that you were stealing from the company, so you're not going to get the job. 2) Wishful thinking 3) To take something for granted Example: I was starting to take it for granted. 4) Keep that in mind 5) Be that as it may 6) Around the clock Example: I'm available around the clock. 7) to toss around some ideas Example: let's toss around some ideas. 8) in and of itself Example: the rainy weather, in and of itself, was not the cause of the traffic jam. 9) lo and behold Example: I looked in the drawer and, lo and behold, I found my wallet. 10) in hindsight Example: in hindsight, I should have told the truth. Example 2: In hindsight, I should have left hours before.

It's been amazing to learn so many great advanced expressions in one chunk. Having said that I wouldn't know if I would be able to use it all in my daily conversation. My partner would tease me saying that it's wishful thinking to learn and digest it in such a short period of time. However I would definitely use it and internalize it as my English teacher Wes has taught us such an amazing great lesson, I'm not going to take it for granted. I would work harder on it. I always keep that in mind, you reap what you sow. There's no short cut in learning English, to level up our English fluency, be that as it may, I won't slow down my journey of learning English. I would keep on watching the videos around the clock. Meanwhile I could toss around some ideas to my friends who want to learn English. This particular lesson, in and of itself , is free! Come on, we're learning English for free from KZbin! In no time, lo and behold, I would be able to level up my English. In hindsight, I should have started learning real English from KZbin channels especially from Wes. Thank you very much to you Wes. Keep it up your great work🎉 👍💯

@@Irina.lopez667I don’t quite get the point of your comment. if I’m saying that I’ve learned a lot more with this video than in my high-school, is precisely because the English education was very deficient in my case 🤔, and for sure if I would have had the opportunity to visit a different institution, I’d have probably take it without hesitation 😅. In short words, if the video didn’t surprised or amazed you, is because you definitely had a higher or better education, and that’s great, good for you! ✨

Fixed expressions are challenging to most English leaners. They are less commonly taught at school and often not the focus of the lesson. I find 'in and of itself' rare but interesting because of its position in a sentence. Hope to see more advanced expressions.

You're close. It's more natural to say "increase the level" or even "up the level" of my English. "Up the level" is used in the US, but I don't know about Britain. It's often used in sports to talk about a player who needs to "up his level" of play. It's a bit informal, but used ALL THE TIME.

I expected that sooner or later you would describe an expression without encompassing it's entire scope of usage, perhaps overlooking that it could be used in a completely opposite context from that which You had touched upon. LO AND BEHOLD, You left out that this very expression can be used to point out that something COMPLETELY expected, did in fact, come to pass! It drove Me nuts as a "Thesaurus Rex" that it wasn't given due credit..Lol. Other than that, an enjoyable video! Carry On!

As a non native speaker of the english language I can say that watching movies is the best way to learn and stay up to date with the most current expressions and words in common usage. As a teacher of the english language, likewise, I always encourage students to watch the news for example, in english, as it is much easier to understand and the people who give the news speak so crystal clear using very formal and appropiate vocabulary. For more advanced learners who like challenges the best way is movies, where they speak ultra fast, sometimes it's incomphrensible what they're saying, specially modern movies, old movies from the 90's and 80's are too easy, they speak super slow by comparison to today's way of speaking, lol. I am happy to see that all the expressions presented here I had learned previously not in an english classroom, but watching movies, lol. I just like to come here to prove to myself I know this stuff, as an English instructor I just can't afford to fall behind in my knowledge,.... it's what puts the bread on the table!! 🤣🤣

"Keep in mind" I heard more the alternative "Bear in mind" throughout my life". "Be that it may" If you want to be fluent in (good) Portuguese (wishful thinking, I take for granted), keep the expression "Seja como for" in mind. It's so cool and tricky for non native (and even contemporary native Brazilians) for it combines two different subjuntictive tenses of the verb "ser" (to be) in the same expression: "seja" (present subjunctive) and "for" (future subjunctive). "Seja como for" (literally "be it as it may be") means precisely "be that it may". "in and of itself ": there's a simple Latin expression for that: "per se".

Thank you for this vocabulary lesson! Isn’t it also possible to say “(Please) keep in mind that…”? For instance: “Keep in mind that language learning is a long term process and that there is no magic formula for making fast progress.” Let me know if this example sentence is correct. Many thanks! Anna

Expression In hindi/Urdu 👌👌❤ Having said that = Yeh saari batain kehte huwe mai kehta hun, mujhe force na karo. Wishful thinking = Yeh tumhara 'Khaam Khiyaal' hai, bhol jao! Take for granted = Usne tumhain bas yehi khayal kia hai ,halanke tum is say kahin ziyada ache ho Keep that in mind = 'yad rakho', aesa kabhi nehi hone wala! Be that as it may = 'Jo bhi ho' mgr mai to ye kabhi accept nehi karunga lo and behold = main tumahin aasman mai dhond raha tha, ye lo tum yahan milgaye (surprisingly) around the clock = Ham hamesha availible hote hain ( all the time) Toss around ideas = Mujhe sochne do (brainstorming) in and of itself = Haan sirif yehi iski wajah hai or kuch nehi (just, alone) in hindsight = 'hona ye chahiye tha k' tum pehle hi bata detay
