Translucent, Metallic, OPAQUE, and Matte. Opacity is referring to not being able to be seen through. The opposite of translucent. 99% of megabass lures have a gloss or semi gloss finish, a select few are matte finish but matte is not a type of paint job on the lures themselves. Also this is not a gripe, this is simply me trying to clear up the vernacular here in case anyone is confused. When he’s saying matte he means colors that are not transparent. Megasbass color “ozark shad” can be used as an example
@manresarods4947 Жыл бұрын
I caught it, too. I finally realized Randy means opaque when he says matte.

It’s kind of funny, I’m originally from the west coast. We started using the original Rapala # 9, 11 or 13. Most would use spinning Rod. I’ve moved to Tennessee and the mid west to the East coast use a bait caster to jerk with. I fished professionally for 30 years out there till skin cancer got me.I had to retire from fishing all the time. I still go fishing, but just not as much. What your doing in my opinion GREAT! Keep it going Randy!!!!

I love that you include the fine details in your decision making... No one else will give ranges of water clarities or temperatures that are productive. Yesterday I decided to practice with the jerk bait because I have zero confidence in it. Went below the dam (the lake up above is far to grassy for anything with treble hooks) with a purple Berkley Stunna 112 and had myself 3 pike within an hour, one of them being my biggest of the year. Needless to say, my confidence shot up a bit and now I'm here lol. Guess I'll have to give the mega bass brand a try now.

Ive been a regular "student" on every video you've ever made and again great lesson thank you, much appreciated. I've got a question and hopefully you can help me with this. I've got a competition coming up on a big dam here in South Africa it is probably full spawn now with water visibility around 15ft with bass coming out regularly around 10lb This dam hardly have any grass or timber in so it's got about 90% rock and hard bottom. 1. Does bass nest deeper in such clear water ? 2. Would a jerkbait be able to pull those big fish off their nests? 3. Would it be better to just rather target them with jigs or soft plastic? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm by no means rich and because of Randy I'm addicted to megabass. There crank baits r top of the line also. I lost a few jerk baits when I first started using them but they have honestly made me a better jerkbait fisherman. I honestly don't think about the price anymore they are worth the price just take care of them you'll be fine don't over think the fact that your casting a $20 bill. U don't dwell on the $40 in gas for your boat or car to go fishing you waste but the jerkbait will go on many trips with you.
@brianbickhaus9081 Жыл бұрын
Hey Randy, I have a question for you about line and terminal tackle as it relates to fish being able to see it. I always thought to keep line size and type along with hooks and other terminal tackle to some type of minimum visibility until that day when I began to fish A-rigs on a regular basis. I got quite good at using A-rigs to the point that it would be a rare day when I didn't catch two fish on one cast with regularity. With heavy wire arms attached to heavy terminal tackle, A-rigs seem to run contrary to the notion that stealth in line and terminal tackle visibility is important to fishing success. The A-rig is a monstrosity of heavy gauge stainless steel arms attached to heavy snap swivels attached to five swim jigs. If a monstrosity like that doesn't scare fish, how could using 30-pound braid with one lure attached possibly scare them?
@AdvancedBassFishing Жыл бұрын
The a rig is an anomaly. In general it’s a good idea to keep the hardware at a minimum on any Lure because I’ve seen firsthand how many more by to get with no hooks on a bait. The times that doesn’t make any difference but I think at times and very clear water. It makes a huge difference.
@brianbickhaus9081 Жыл бұрын
@@AdvancedBassFishing Ever since my Fishing Facts and In Fisherman days, I have always been a disciple of light line, small hardware, and stealthy approach, but since I started using an A-Rig in ultra clear water lakes like Spring Creek in Lake Seminole, I'm wondering if I had this all wrong - all along? Now I use 30 braid all the time and my productivity on big bass has actually gone way up. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I have 50 years of bass fishing experience now and live in South Florida. Thank you for your response. I appreciate it.

That was fantastic. Best jerkbait video of all times. You did convert me over to the spinning rod and I am learning why it is so important. I use the line you recommend in 6# and love it. I take my spool off my reel put a small bolt and washer on and put it threw the spool on the other end I put a small washer on with a lock nut and snugg it down. The bolt is long enough so that a couple of inches is past the spool. Insert it in a variable speed drill and spool it on like you would a baitcaster reel. No line twist no nothing. Thank you.
