I really like the idea of third party blocks for the WE. I have the 130 system and love the clamping system having used the 120 for a long time. My only question is how flat the surfaces (plattens ) are for the lapping film. The WE units use glass; what’s the material used on these? My only other observation is that since all four sides are used, one needs to be careful to not cross contaminate the films with one’s fingers from holding the blocks. I suppose you could just use the two opposing sides, holding the block by the unused sides. Finally, the WE holders are recessed to provide purchase (and protection) of one’s fingers. I really like your presentation and have subscribed based on this video!

Does the pricing for the WE packs include two holders in addition to the films? I assume the films are either silicon or aluminum oxide and not diamond?

Why are you doing the scrubbing with each grit? I thought you had already got the burr at 200 grit? I'm new to the WE. Just wondered if there was something Im not aware of. Thanks.

I wonder myself sometimes. :) Haha, whatever method you find that works for you, I would recommend that. I just have some things I do that work for me when sharpening, each to their own.

OK, dumb question here. Does the lapping film have the abrasive in it already or do you have to charge it with a compound?

The lapping film already has the abrasive in it, that is why each grit of lapping film is a different grit or micron. For instance, 30 micron is a lot more coarse than say 9 micron.

Angles are identical on the plastic pieces.

How do you find the burr if you are sharpening both sides of the blade equally?

On this specific sharpening job I started recording after about 10-15 minutes of already sharpening with 200grit, which is when I found the burr originally. After I find the burr once I do not need to find it again usually, but each persons experience will vary. I have other videos in my "Sharpening" playlist you can watch if you want to see this. I purchased the 3D holders for my WorkSharp Precision and they worked great but since then I have purchased the Deluxe KME system with lapping stones. It is a great system but one day I will buy the WE. Thanks for responding.

Would you recommend the WE130 over the Gen 3 pro and if so, why? I am looking to purchase one of these systems but not sure which one to get. Also, do you think this could be a viable system for a side hustle or is it just too slow in your opinion? Apologies if you’ve covered this in other videos. I’m just now digging into your content. Great stuff so far!

Either are good, its really what you are able to afford. The extra stones and holders cost the most money.

No, you have to pay more for a Wicked Edge. If you want something a lot less expensive, they buy a Work Sharp Precision Adjust.
