great information, thank you! i've got my mole kitted out nicely thanks to your video! just one point regarding waiting for the elevator to exit, what i like to do is map a key to open external doors (i map to "/"), and u can tap that as u're landing or just before stepping out of the cockpit seat, and it will be open by the time u get there.

You can float through the middle turrets glass windows. Just need some momentum going back in. Useful for if you want to place a gadget. If the ladder up doesn't work after doing this, just pull out a FPS item and stow it.

As for the laser order, when eve you put on a new laster, it swaps their possition so you have to kind of do trial and error to see if you got the laser you want in the right spot. But thanks for video. I've took a LONG break from SC courtesy of 3.18, and I haven't mined in for ever, so this helps a lot, to find out how to equip a MOLE and so on. I do wish they'd label turrets properly (LIke, Center, Right or Starboard or Port/Left and so on rather than, well, in my manager it sjust all say "Weapon"

A little trick for that is to equip the helix first at the bottom then you always know it's in the right spot, the hofstedes kinda don't matter because left or right is no different

It would be awesome to get a part 2 and maybe 3 to this were you show how to break the more difficult rocks. I know you do this in your streams and i also found a vid from 11 months ago but so many things change i would love to see more 3.23 content, what is working now. Mining is hard to master 😊

I use the Hof2 on the nose because it'll crack most under 15k, has a bigger charge window, lower min power so easier for most rocks....and center turret is quicker getting in and out. The Helix w/surge and/or stampede is my go to for big stuff on port side, but a bit tricky for general use on most rocks. Downside is range mismatch so I usually have to reposition after cracking a big rock w/the Helix to clean-up with the Hof2, but it's worth the tradeoff. I also have an identical Helix starboard side as a backup in case I blow or expend modules on left Helix and landing/exiting to replace modules takes too much time.

the info here is still really good, as of current patch picking up gadgets will just kill you, and don't blink when are used, but can still be used making them about 20k one time use tricks. Still absolute worth cost investment to get that juicy rock with quant

I'm not sold on the benefits of Torrents myself. My Preferred Solo is: Hof2, Focus3 Focus 3; Hof2, Surge, Reiger C3; Helix, Surge, Surge, Stamp... I like the better power

There is nothing wrong with that! I enjoy the ease of use and speed it enables. Doesn't have to be optimal zone as long. Raw power is really good too, just a different style

Hi i tried this setup last night, i really like the right laser for cracking smaller rocks. But the biggest rock i was able to crack was 19k, the 30k are impossible to crack with the helix even when i activate stampede. What am i doing wrong?

Good stuff! Quick question...the Optimal range. I noticed on the big rock you were cracking that you were in the "hazard" stripe range (too close). Have you seen/experienced rocks where you don't actually get a Green Optimal range? I saw a few like this recently.

Yes, i have! This happens because there is such a large quantity of hazardous ores(typically taranite, bexalite or quant) that they hazard area is huge. I've seen it take up the entire distance sometimes. This is fine, as long as you are not way over charging the rock, you should be okay. Especially if you have upgraded shields, the most you'll hear is the audible que of "shields under attack" the most in repairs I've paid is like 2k. The mole is really tanky. It'll launch you spinning into orbit before it blows you up lol

Can you do a short video going over some of the bugs and workarounds? For example multicrew lasers being out of alignment for other crew members and ping results not showing correctly.

Well the mining laser thing doesn't have much of a work around. There I'd a confirmed report on the issue council for that

For us the lasers being unaligned only happens when there is somone in the pilot seat and the weapons are turned on (toggle with P), as long as you either don't have someone in the seat or make sure to turn off the weapons you should be good.

Great info, particular the gadget workaround. However...as the mole has no internal storage space, where do you put the spare modules and gadgets? I can see putting gadgets inside a large/heavy backpack, but the modules won't fit.

I will drop a updated video for 3.24 since there are quite a few changes from this one. To answer your question, you'll have to bring a 1 SCU box to put stuff in until the mole gets a gold pass update. No telling when that'll happen, but that should also make components accessible

@@epic_grayfox Actually after I posted that comment, I went back and got a suit with the biggest backpack I could find. I was able to fit one of each gadget and two or three modules in it so I stand thoroughly correctly.

After the hotfix patch today, I have had some issues with the non- stock lasers, the impact and helix, not activating when the turret is on. The stock laser works no issue. any recommendations on how to solve this?

That's very interesting. Have you checked the power distribution 8j the power MFD? In the mole there are 3 2-bar panels. All 3 need to be powered for all the lasers to work. I've found that is usually why lasers will not power on.

@@epic_grayfox did some deep dive into the issue, and didn't realize the power managment had a scroll indicator for more options on the bottom of the mfd screen. For the Helix II it needs to also have the power markers set to max. Have been unable to find the hofestead ii's as of the more recent hotfix as well.

In the past I thought if you are cracking a rock and get into the overcharge window and your rock overcharges but the it drops back to the green window but is still got some "red" overcharge left - it would get you less out of your rock ? Is that still true ? I hope you guys know what I mean ? thx for the nice guide!

Yes, that will still cost you sub fragments. It depends on how "overcharged" the rock becomes. Just a little red may not even cost you anything. A lot of red could cost you most of the rock, just depends.

Hi i managed to find 30k rocks and used the stampede. First try i activated the stampede at 100% laser power and the rock overcharged immediately and i lost it. Second time i was more careful and started stampede at 70% dialled up and got it in the green. Then it went into the red and i turned laser off. Next i tried 4 more times but it would not get up far enough no matter what i tried. It is hard to figure out. It was a 25k quant rock so i really need to figure this stampede out lol😅

Do you recommend surface mining over asteroid mining?

Hands down surface mining. Surface mining you can find clusters of 4-8 rocks together, some prospector sized and some mole sized. Asteroids you are flying between asteroids that are often times 7-10km apart just to scan 1 rock. In a prospector, asteroid mining is fine, it is also okay if you have atleast one other person in the mole. For solo mole, surface all the way.

Wait you’re saying Mole lasers have the same stats as Prospector lasers except for more inert filtering and more range? How does a Mole break the larger rocks then?

They have more power too. I apologize if that was a bit misleading.

It really depends. On average probably between 400k-700k an hour. You can really push it much further but it is really about luck. A quantanium haul mixed with other stuff can easily push you over 1mil an hour.

With 3.24.3 this info is a little out of date, active modules no longer will fire. So for my Helix I use 3 Rieger C3, and it does use all three for 75% increase. Basically we cant use active modules right now. And with that setup, I cannot crack 30k rocks, 23 to maybe 25 seems to be the max. Also they changed the laser order back to what it was. 1 is front, 2 is left, and 3 is right.

@azmav75 I don't think out of date is fair, they just worked in 24.2 and not in 24.3. 3 Reiger C3s actually give a 96% increase because they compound their effects. You can Crack bigger than 25k but you need to use gadgets to make it work

Server instability can be a cause of this as well. I've ran into issues where a rock size I easily break at 40% power I can't even get to charge at 100% power with the stampede on. Sometimes SC doesn't wanna cooperate 🤷‍♂️
