I just started playing with Blender 3 days ago so some of it went over my head, but it's blowing my mind how easily simple inputs and modifiers can be combined to make something incredible like this. I really appreciate that you take the time to explain *why* you're doing what you're doing at each step, thank you for helping us to understand instead of just copying step by step.

This is a very practical approach for achieving these sorts of shots. Really cool workflow.

I thought I'd chime in that I have a fix to the Join Geometry UV issue that would allow you to keep everything in one node tree. At the start of the tree plug in a Store Named Attribute Node into your node Tree, set to Vector and Face Corner. Into the Value socket of this node connect a named attribute node with UVMap in the name domain. From there type different name into the store named attribute node, and in the shader nodes replace the texture coordinate node with the Attribute node and use whatever you typed into Store Named intput in you geometry node tree, and use the vector output. This works in cycles and eevee.
@medafan53 Жыл бұрын
As an additional, it appears 3.5 has fixed the Issue entirely.

I've been wanting to animate something similar for a while now, so thank you for this tutorial, very informative. Also, having followed a link to one of your older videos, I much prefer listening to your actual voice (I'm assuming, in this video) to the digitized voice you used for the magical book video. Please do keep up the good work!

I haven't seen geometry nodes used to manipulate existing meshes before, just generating new stuff. Pretty neat. One note though, please compare your audio to the volume of other videos when you're editing. Your video is very quiet.
@cg.man_aka_kevin2 жыл бұрын
Then why does the nanotechnology layer in the thumbnail have a third layer sliver effect? While the video is only the front and hexagonal layers. Can it be updated so that the layers are more complete? :)
@nicrule44242 жыл бұрын
@@cg.man_aka_kevin I believe the silver effect is just the spectral reflection of the hex layer since it's only on one side. If you wanted to add a glow layer though, I think you would just use the same process as the other layers on a mesh with emission set to only be bright right on that edge.
