I cannot find those type of sinkers either locally or online. Do you remember where you got them---TIA

Great video. It opens up a lot of possibilities with tubes. Next time out on the ice, I think that I will try a tube over a Swedish pimple to see if that works. It will have the weight to bring it down. .

Yea it’s a cool option for a different look!

The one thing that I found that was interesting about the vertical approach is that you get the action of jigging spoon as well as the light fluttering action from the tail at the same time. Very eye opening even for first timers that are getting into the big game world and getting the right kind of trolling weight , treble and tube body in bulk packs is so affordable. And if desired add herring, smelt or minnow scent/spray on the tube, now you have the profile, scent and made a simple system even deadlier.😊

Love your videos, man! With your tube rigging/modifications, have you tried putting a bladed treble as the stinger? You use VMC hooks often and they make bladed trebles that I use on lots of my baits (tubes and lipless cranks).
@dougwegnerfishing2 жыл бұрын
I do and actually did on this day on the treble of my stinger but I think they nip the bottom of the stinger then vs the ends of the tube tails so might miss a short strike or two. I know I missed one on this day.

About that bent sinker, I have used banana sinkers before, not quit the same, but same principal. When I was guiding in the NWT, we did a lot of vertical jigging, after a while the trout would shred the tube, so I tried fishing without the tube, and wouldn't you know, they bit on the sinker too, without the tube. About that fish under the ice, Gord Pyzer has an article out there that suggests that after mid winter, some of the trout start relating to the bottom of the ice, just as if it was the bottom of the lake. If I can find a link, I will post it.

Being able to watch a fish act on a bait is perhaps the most electric and exciting this a fisherman can do.

It’s a sonar not a gill net, even with all the advantage you don’t get every fish you see. I fished for yrs without electronics, now I wouldn’t fish without them
