Very informative, I have repositioned my sat nav since watching this.

I could recommend large screen portable sat. nav. I use one for trucks. It has 8 inch screen, proper resolution, enough space on screen for useful info as distance, waypoints, services, petrol stations, lanes overview, nice short animations of road layout ahead, atc. Mine costed £75 from internet and it is great! Got it from day one of owning the first car. Once you use big one you would not want go back to those small models. Also, not only gives you directions, but enhances experience and brings luxury into driving.

Sounds good. We've switched over to using our phone's navigation app (either Google / Apple / TomTom / Waze) through Apple CarPlay into the car's 8" touchscreen. It's a lot neater since there are no extra cables, the big screen is much clearer to see, and far better audio quality through the car's speakers!

Didn't use the sat nav on my test, followed road sign's and I've only been living here 6 months. That was a bit scary.

Hiya, what HUD do you have in your car here/recommend? Thanks 😊

That HUD was an old model, but on some of our later videos you can see another one that was much better: Autool X50 Plus 👍🏼

@AdvanceDrivingSchool7 жыл бұрын
+Anirban Acharya Thanks for watching. The head-up display is an old model that isn’t sold now - but if you search on eBay for ‘OBD HUD’ you’ll see similar models.

Please kindly reply me, what is the brand and model of the display digital speedometer I'm seeing on the dashboard. Your videos have been awesome by th way

That model was bought from eBay about 10 years ago! Search for ‘OBD HUD’ for the current options. 👍🏼

Just out of interest, is the sat nav supplied by the test centre even if the car has one built in and if it is a test centre one what happens if it goes down during the test? Will the examiner just switch the test to follow signs.
@AdvanceDrivingSchool4 жыл бұрын
The test sat-nav is brought by the examiner - and if it goes wrong they will end the independent driving section of the test and give you verbal instructions for the remainder.

I can't drive without a satnav on my own (with no one to tell me what way to go) or I get lost, even to the grocery store so I have them all saved onto my destinations. I have a built in one and use it 99% of the time, the 1% being the straight road to work where I don't use it.
@AdvanceDrivingSchool6 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you are very organised! When I started driving (1989) we had to use maps all the time, which was a lot more difficult when on your own. I remember getting completely lost a few times!

2016 and still using Yards on a SatNav. What is wrong with this version of GPS?
@AdvanceDrivingSchool4 жыл бұрын
Since we use miles in the UK, we set the sat-nav to 'imperial' and we get miles and yards. Setting it to 'metric' would give kilometres and metres. There is no way to mix the two. Since a yard is about 91cm, it's close enough for us to just imagine metres instead of yards.

What's an eco route?
@AdvanceDrivingSchool6 жыл бұрын
When a Sat-Nav plans a route it usually defaults to the fastest route. As you have seen, there are other options depending on your priorities - so if you aren't in a particular rush then choosing the 'eco route' will use more slower roads which will save fuel but take a little longer.
