In this episode of the Regenerative Agriculture Podcast, John interviews Dr. Hatfield, the laboratory director for the USDA’s National Laboratory for Agriculture and The Environment. They discuss the mechanics of improving plant efficiency in capturing water, nutrients, and light and put that into productivity. Listen to learn about the role that the soil-plant continuum plays in productivity and harvest quality, as well as the fundamental functions of the soil aggregate structure and the value of gas exchange and water infiltration. See the complete show notes at regenerativeagriculturepodcast....

I like how soil health is described as the "rungs of the soil aggregation ladder" - the first rung being biological activity. And the four needs of biological activity is: food, water, air and shelter. Easy to remember because we humans need this too!

Rung #2 I suppose is plant diversity in the soil, described as rotational diversity or "cover crop cocktail" as he creatively puts it. Rung #3 is improved aggregation. Rung #4 is improved infiltration and then #5, improved gas exchange. With this ladder intact the biology works quite quickly, we can see huge changes within one growing season.

Very inspiring work. Please check how soil regeneration is being applied in india (for eons now)

I like cho's in ripe fruit. Protein in meats. Possibly do not taste protein so much. Perhaps sauteing gives meat more desirable flavor. Possibly due to carmelized sugars in barbecue sauce. Lots of additives generally in a processed food.
