I had the chance to attend Redeemer (Tim’s Church) for about a year before I moved across the country. I can safely say this man’s understanding of the Gospel is second to none. He brings intellect and spirit to Christianity. He’s a modern day Paul. I am so thankful to have had the experience of learning from him, his church, and the community he built at Redeemer. I don’t know where I’d be without him.

Common grace. I have this philosophy, that humans are incapable of believing something unless SOMETHING about it is true. The game is to find out what. This has really helped my discourse with all kinds of people, and I only more firmly believe it the more I see it in action.

Dr. Keller I thank The Lord for how He has revealed Himself by using your teaching of The Scriptures. I have been able to deepen my knowledge of the true God and deepen my relationship with our Father in Heaven by reading your books and by listening to your sermons. I hope and pray that The Lord will use me to share the good news of his salvation through Christ.

I heard Tim’s sermon for the first time 11 years ago. They shaped my understanding of the Bible a lot. I even once had a chance to go to his church in New York. Throughout all these years his integrity put even more weight to all the profound and beautiful sermons He was sharing along the way. God has used his gifts in a glorious way. I have been living in China for more than 10years now and his words were always an encouragement at all the situations I would encounter here. Thank you Tim for giving to the Lord. And thank you so much for quoting my favorite C.S.Lewis so frequently!

Thank you Pastor for that wonderful insight, on the magi God does reveal himself through in and through the unbeliever thats how he draws us to himself. I am always blessed by your teachings. Jesus actually spoke with everyone from all walks of life. He listen to them and he didn't condemn he always pointed out to them the truth behind their thinking and understanding which brought them to the right understanding the truth. I believe in part this is what you are saying that we need to listen to everyone to see that common ground that leads to Christ and the true understanding the real truth. Pilot knew Jesus was different and there was something very special about him but he was unable to see the truth to lead him to the true understanding and to know who Christ really was. You always get me to go deeper in understanding I love listening to you. God bless you.

Augustine was converted to the truth of the Catholic faith and was a Catholic bishop. True Christian discernment requires the faith community under the teaching authority of the magisterium. Come home to the Catholic Church! :) Anyways, Dr. Keller is a blessing to all Christians. Happy Advent and Merry Christmas, y'all!

I believe Tim Kellor would call himself a truly catholic man. Citing Augustine and Luther both is evidence of this! But perhaps you mean Roman-Catholic; which I've often thought to be a bit oxymoronic, like narrowly universal, or exclusively everyone's.

There are talents and there are gifts. Everyone can have a talent, but only those who believe (Romans 10:9) in the God Jesus Christ receive the Holy Spirit and His gifts of God. It's needful to differentiate this. God loves everyone, but everyone does not love God.

What I find interesting about the Magi is that entire history of Israel is a period of Advent, a time of expectation of the coming of the Messiah, yet when Jesus came, 'there was no room for Him in the inn' because no one from Israel was expecting the Messiah to arrive. However, not only were the gentile Magi expecting Him, they came to offer Him gifts and worship.

Can I suggest we as Christians can be afraid and at times angry with other beliefs and other "worldly" wisdom. BECAUSE, maybe we are not strong in our own understanding of Christ and the Bible. We can only discern and discuss these things when we strong understanding of our own faith and not confrontational and dismissive of others.

What is your view of Eastern Orthodoxy? They say they are the only true church. I am trying to find and worship God in spirit and truth but even the Christian denominations, Catholics, Orthodox etc argue with each other who is the true church. I'm so confused and disheartened by this. I just want the God I'm praying to, to be the true God. I pray out of the genuiness of my heart.

Please pray for His help and then perhaps just begin to visit churches. This is what I did 30 years ago. God led me to a small church and I knew as I entered the building I was home. Now, I was raised a Catholic (and I have nothing against it) and so I started my searching there. However, I didn’t “feel home” there. I ended up in a tiny Nazarene church. I now know (30 years later) it wasn’t necessarily the denomination but the people God was leading me to. Anyway, God met me, ministered to me and brought me into His body. I have moved many times due to work and now live over seas. Therefore, I’ve been a part of many different church family denominations… all I can say is, when you become God’s true child, and He puts His Holy Spirit in you, you will be changed. And then ever after, when you encounter real Christians, you will recognise God’s Spirit in them (no matter what church or denomination they are part of) God teaches in Matthew 7 verses 7-8, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Keep going, dear one. Sorry this is so long.
@juliestewartvideos3 жыл бұрын
I would suggest reading the scriptures. God will lead you to the true "church" Relationship with the Lord is so much more fundamental and essential than a denominational choosing. Remember God is not a God of confusion. God is also calling to you, he is not one of works or right prayers. He knows the desires of your heart. Open your bible, or the daily bible, or audible, or the dwell app. Dive into the scriptures. God will meet you there. God bless you on your walk with Him. Jesus is near. Call out his name, that is the name above all names. Merry Christmas.

@@dianetm8557 Thank you so much for your response, I appreciate your words and how encouraging they have been to me. In the chaotic world we live in, I have felt an urgency to be baptised as I dont know whether I will even be alive tomorrow (I also suffer from a great deal of anxiety, depression and hopelessness). I went to an Eastern Orthodox priest who said the Orthodox church is the only true church by which Christians will come into heaven to be with God. That made me feel awful because basically, the priest falls under the belief that Catholics, Protestants, all other non denominational Christians are not favoured by God and hence will not be saved???? In my despair, I asked the priest if he would baptise me and he said no. He said I would need to participate in a special Orthodox course that takes over six months. And the next course doesn't start until May 2022. He said at the earliest, I could be baptised January 2023. I walked away feeling so hopeless. I think if Jesus was here, considering the urgency of times and my deep longing for Him, He would not tell me that it would take me over one year of study until He would accept me as being Saved. So sorry for my long reply lol. I thank you again. God bless you xoxo

@@juliestewartvideos Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I take them to heart and appreciate it so much. You have given me hope that Jesus loves all Christians, He doesn't pick and choose his favourite and then base Salvation on who is in the 'right' church. I mean, that would not seem loving and fair at all. God bless you xoxo

The star that was showing them where to go wasn't a star it was an angel an angel was actually showing them the way that was the star but he was so far away they couldn't see what it looked like all they saw was a star. And not just that Jesus Christ wasn't a baby when they found him he wasn't he was like around 5 or 6 years old when they came to him this delusion of he they came and he was in a manger that is a Catholic made up interpretation of the truth. I see this off and on and it's disgusting to look at there's so much context to this verse but. I just wish people would study their Bibles and I mean the King James Bible the King James Bible is the closest accurate representation of the Bible today all the other Bibles have Miss versus and translations their literally versus in the Bible that that is not from King James version and they have Larry versus ripped out or completely changed the King James has none of that. What I want to say is be careful people what you believe in the Bible study your Bible follow the apostle Paul we don't follow Jesus today and when I say Jesus I mean. We don't follow Jesus of Israel today because that dispensation has been paused we are now in the dispensation of the grace of God that was given to the apostle Paul to preach to us today when Jesus Christ was born he was born for Israel he wasn't born for the whole world he was born only for Israel's sake. But now God opened up a new dispensation he changed something. Now we live in the dispensation of the grace of God we live in a time period that God is not punishing people for sins today if you're saved you don't have to live a certain lifestyle you don't have to you know jump through hoops to be saved you just have to believe that what Jesus did for you on Earth was enough to save you from sin you have to surrender you have to realize that there's nothing good about you and you need him. People today think they have to live right and and be good in order to get salvation no that was for Israel we're not Israel today. Israel got faith by doing works we don't do works today today we get our salvation from Christ this is why we can't brag about it now can the Jews brag about their salvation yes because they earn it we don't have to earn it because Israel salvation the way they got their salvation was different in the way we get our salvation today now. Israel's salvation has been postponed it's been paused and it happened when Stephen was murdered by the chief priest inscribes they murdered him when Jesus saw this he was done with Israel but he wasn't finished with them. He paused the kingdom message and he opened up a dispensation of Grace and he took all of the Jews all of their works all their blessings and he gave it to everyone so now all you have to do today to be saved is just believe in what Christ did for you was enough to save you from sin stop trying to earn your salvation through your own power you don't have the power to do it. This is why it's called the dispensation of Grace now should you live right for Christ yes but out of your own free will. Because Christ loves free will that's why he lets you make the choice now should you live right yes Paul says you should you should live right you should walk in good path you should be good but that's the thing. Should and I'm sorry if I sound weird I'm talking to a phone. you have to believe that what Christ did for you was enough to save you from sin you have to believe in something you can't see today we live by doctrine we don't live by miracles we live by his doctrine the problem of people today is they don't study their doctrine and because of that they're an error so be careful what you get your doctrine from today. If you guys want a good KZbinr to find proper doctrine there's a KZbinr called sometimes a truth hurts look them up he has good videos you'll learn a lot about the dispensation that you're in today
