Wait, how does place your back to the lake and take a diagonal step to the right ends up there? Shouldn't it be at the crossroads towards east? I think if it said "place your back to the clock tower and then take 1 step right diagonally" then it would be the place that's the answer...

Yeah I find it confusing too. I can’t remember if it made more sense to me back when the game originally released .
