My heart goes out to those affected by Hurricane Helene. In this video, I show you videos of what I experienced as Hurricane Ian hit my home in Cape Coral, FL. I then travel down the streets of Cape Coral including the Yacht Club, Cape Harbor, and Tarpon Point Marina areas to show you the damage and destruction left in the wake of Hurricane Ian.
I hope residents in know what to expect and prepare for hurricanes.

@@MkFromMkorNoK I'm really sorry that you lost your home in Katrina. I completely understand your anger and bitterness. What I don't understand is why you would direct that at people who were fortunate enough to not lose their homes in subsequent hurricanes. They aren't at fault for Katrina or the clusterfuck that followed. Your misdirected angst is only hurting you, and isn't gonna change a thing. I got an overload of radiation during my cancer treatment because I was in a study that I didn't understand. I am shitty at the doctor who duped me - but not at any other cancer survivors who didn't have the same results. I'm glad they didn't have to suffer the way I am suffering. The feeling of "knowing" it's headed straight for you is completely consuming, my heart goes out to you! All of the county is a flood zone, so we are thankful our property is still here but hurt for you all. We evacuated to Orlandoand, heard later, it was headed for us! Roofs were torn off, electric was out all night and part of the morning, restaurants were underwater and all those beautiful palm trees on the interstate were sheared off. New construction homes were leveled. I 4 was under water so we had to wait a day to go home. The amount of damage is more than I can put in to words. Thank you for videotaping this. I live in Canada and have never seen a tropical storm although I have seen the after-effects of them on TV News. You did a great job of moving around the house, videotaping from all angles, starting from before the storm started. I couldn't believe watching people's roofs blow right off the houses! And the way the canal so quickly went over its banks - it's no wonder that tsunamis from the ocean are as huge as they are. It must be an insurance nightmare where you are - everyone waiting for tradespeople to repair roofs, homes, garages, electric teams to get all the posts and lines back up and running. If what the scientists say is true - that climate change is going to make these storms even bigger and more deadly, it's going to be really tragic in the future. I hope your damages weren't too extensive and I hope nobody was hurt.

Great vid showing the hurricane effects. I live in Naples (39 years) and the storm surge is what got us. Winds were not that bad. What was scary was being in the house seemingly trapped as the water rose. Home flooded with salt water muck but my wife and I or OK and thank God for that. The next morning she finally was able to call me and I literally just balled my eyes out. I had heard of some others who called search and rescue on their parents and it was scaring me all day, I was glued to my phone. With respect to you offering this lady and her community reassuring words, as this was truly awful - where were you in February 2022, ie., this year, when Storm Eunice ravaged the UK, the first time red warnings issued and we had 122mph winds?? Travel was restricted, thousands were without power and the rail-ways were impacted due to damage. I live by the open coast - that was more than scary enough. Many people's properties were damaged in some form.

This was an excellent mini-documentary of the experience & wrath of a hurricane as strong as Ian!! My father retired early in 1984 at 55 after working at DuPont in Virginia for 30 years & running a 400 acre beef cattle farm in his 'spare' time. The farm was sold in 1980 when my parents divorced. My dad remained in 1984, he & my stepmother moved to Cape Coral in 1985 & started a charter boat business with 3 boats of various sizes & types. The charter boat business as a whole started to go 'bellyup' in the late 80s, I think. Dad ended up going back to work as either City Manager or just an engineer for Fort Myers & retired again. He's never been one to sit still!! When he 1st arrived in Cape Coral, before my stepmother could join him bcuz of her work obligations, he even worked at Publix as a bag boy!! He said he had NEVER been propositioned by so many women in his entire life, as when he worked there!! 1 other funny story - when my dad announced his retirement at DuPont, he stopped wearing a tie to work, he hated ties so badly, & said 'what are you gonna do, fire me?', lol. When he went to work at Publix as a bag boy, they made him wear a tie!!! LOL!!! They ended up leaving Cape Coral living the RV life, then finally settled in Wauchula, bought a small ranch & dad said he was living his 2nd childhood raising cattle again!! They lost the roof & therefore entire home to a hurricane a number of years ago, building a new house farther back on their property. My dad is now 92 years young, my stepmother who's 14 years younger is unfortunately in a memory care facility bcuz of severe dementia. Dad was 1 of the lucky ones this time, only minor damage to a screened porch & the roof of a pump house. Almost ALL of HARDY (It may be HARDEE,sorry) COUNTY ENDED UP UNDERWATER, but fortunately not Dad!! My heart & prayers go out to all who went through Hurricane Ian!!! With much love from Virginia!!

Because if you live here they never know where it truly is going to hit. Ian was supposed to go up into Tampa Bay, but like Charlie in 2004 it stalled and turned early. A forecast is just that, if they knew where and actually when it would hit that would be awesome. But it's weather and things change on a dime. It's not 100% accurate. Nothing ever is.
