I've been there. I took the monk a 40 lb sack of sesame seeds that he had ordered from the health food store in Princeton, back in the day. 😊 Was a very awesome excursion. Had a nice long chat with him inside his cave.

I operated a large auto carrier truck out of Delta B.C. I lived 2700 miles away on the outskirts of Toronto. 15 years I based my operation out of there. There were numerous occasions I travelled on Hwy 3. There was for a number of years a mom and pop dinner in Hedley called Teenys Nickleplate Restaurant. The food was classic home style fair. Roast beef Sunday dinner was exceptionally good. Some of the best sleeps I ever had in my old Kenworth where by the babbling stream across the road from Teenys. It was an photogenic old town with the old mine perched high above on the mountain. Thanks for the memories.

Just relaxing watching this video and you zoomed in on Enloe Dam. i live like ten minutes from there in Oroville lol. I've read that there used to be a series of waterfalls there that historically have always blocked salmon access but I am not 100% sure about that. Man I gotta get a passport and go to BC sometime.

Neat. I think the box was for a geocache. similar to one I found out by Greenwood.. Good to see another doing trash pickup. 👍👍

It's not a cave. It's a tunnel. It was used to run a water pipe to the mine downstream in Hedley from a dam further upstream. The monk lived there for about 14 years then had to move because water started to leak inside. That's my old bedframe. I hauled it from 7km further upstream from an old derelict cabin. Took 2 trips.

I hiked up there a couple years ago with my girlfriend. At first we tried to keep our feet dry, but quickly learned that was a losing battle. She passed away a couple months later so watching this was a little bitter-sweet. Still a pretty cool spot to check out if you can.

the monk actually lived in a different cave way harder to get to 2000ft higher up on the mountainside for many years and only moved down to this bottom cave for a few years at the very end of his days ..that sign in box is actually a geocache game box

Very cool. I thought you couldn't access the cave anymore since the flood of '21. We met Lyon several years back when we gave him a drive to Wolfe Lake. He had since left the cave and told us it was because of the pack rats. He said that although they were friendly and highly intelligent, they overran his cave and he couldn't live with their stench anymore. lol Thank you so much for this video! I often wondered where the cave was.

@@PaulCottonFilmsThere's a guy up in Dawson City YK named Caveman Bob. He lives in an AWESOME cave on the west side of the river. He's got lights and a wood stove,carpets and furniture and he's an awesome guy. Not sure if he's still kicking though

If I had missed the map that flashed across the screen briefly, I'd have no idea where this place is since neither the thumbnail description nor the narrator give a clue about what state/county/country etc this pest infested place is located in; that's annoying.

Kinda curious, it looks like that cave was a tunnel from way back as a route to somewhere. Anyone know the history?
@PaulCottonFilms2 ай бұрын
@@vanlifethetravelinfranksho5611 The valley was a route to the KVR when it was being built but I think this was specifically tunnelled out for the flume that ran to Hedley. Not sure of that was for town water supply or the steam generation to power the early mines.
