As a Hoosier who grew up camping I can’t get enough of this channel. I don’t remember the last thing I came across that made me smile this much. I just graduated college and it can feel like there’s enormous pressure to “be successful” or climb the corporate ladder. This is exactly what I needed to remind me to slow down and go back to what actually makes me happy. I can’t thank you guys enough for sharing this amazing content. Now I’m rounding up my friends and we’re hittin the trail. Adventure on.

27:48 A tornado blew across Minister Valley west to east in June of 2015, knocking down many trees. This "brambly" portion of the trail is where young brush and vegetation is filling in, in response to the full sunlight conditions created by the tornado. Also: "if this was the brambly section they had mentioned, it wasn't all that bad." That's because our organization, Friends of Allegheny Wilderness, did an extensive trail stewardship weekend all around the Minister loop trail this past April, and cut all that brush way back through there at that time! 😁👍🏻

@@AdventureArchives Love the Minister Valley area. I recognized pretty much every view, every tree, every stream crossing, etc. you showed in your video. Did you know that Minister Valley is a prospective wilderness area, set to become permanently protected by law from all forms of development under the Wilderness Act of 1964 as part of America's National Wilderness Preservation System? :)

A year ago today, I did a day hike to the summit of Mt. Whitney. I was in a bit of a hurry and a significant portion of it was in the dark so I missed the little pathway down to Mirror Lake off the main trail. So yesterday, I decided to do a day hike to Mirror Lake and on the way there from the trailhead, I ran into a group of people getting in a little practice before doing their own trip to the summit today. One of the guys saw my Adventure Archives sunset t-shirt and said he loved the shirt and that Adventure Archives is one of his favorite KZbin channels. Reppin' the 'Chives!!!

Thanks for taking me on your journey through the lush greenery of the Allegheny Forest. Brings me back to my childhood of picking mayapples and using the jewelweed to fight off the poison ivy that I happened to brush up against while playing in the woods. The ferns lining the forest are simple outstanding. I have never seen so many ferns in one area. It gives one the feeling of peacefulness. That jack-in-the-pulpit was the perfect specimen! One day I will venture back east to hike that area.

Are you all really eating mayapples? When I was just a youngster I read of a Native American who was captured by the enemy. As he was being marched along a mayapple lined path, deciding that death was better than captivity, he ingested some mayapple leaves and quickly departed this world. I assume it was a true story? Anyway, I just looked up mayapples and Mama Google says the whole plant is deadly poison. The apples are not as poison when ripe but should still be eaten sparingly and carefully. Love these videos. Just happened upon them and am thoroughly enjoying them. Thanks so much!

Minister creek is one of my favorite trails to do a quick overnight or stretch it to a weekend. While watching I was waiting to see your reaction to the Forks campground area as it’s one of the nicest places to camp. The area you passed at an hour and four minutes in the video was the result of a micro burst three years ago. It leveled the trees, and it’s regrown with brush. That was also the same storm that knocked a tree over onto a tent and killed someone.

This was my first backpacking trip as a 10-year old. That was 32 years ago. Those two brushy sections you crossed were the result of a microburst that ran down and up the valley about 10 years ago. Sadly, some campers lost their lives. It completely changed the landscape. Now, there is a beaver dam at the base of that overgrow trail you tried to take to the west on day one. It will take a generation at least to get back to normal. Thanks for the video.

congrats on your bow-drill fire.. there is a special feeling the first time you create fire from a couple sticks and a piece of rope... both a confidence in yourself and a connection to all those who used this method for survival..

A very good adventure. Thank you. Your short clips at the end were hilarious, the best of all the ones up to this point that I've seen. I like how Andrew is incorporating more of his Gung Fu into your shows and especially into those short clips.

Big fan of that area which is how I stumbled onto your channel. Looking forward to catching up on what I missed - this is some seriously quality stuff and the joy and humility in nature is very refreshing. The first look at Triple Fork campground at 39:09 brings me back to the time I first saw it. Seeing and hearing the joy in your faces/voices, the cries of "Andrew! You got to see this!" , "Pick of the litter" etc. were very much like when I first heard the rushing water and skipped through the sapling tunnel into that clearing. FYI the NCT that continued due north as you passed to take the north loop of the Minister Creek trail only climbs uphill 100' before leveling out. The 3.9 miles to the next trailhead at FR 116 includes an old railroad grade that makes you think you're walking a private road. There's some neat rocks including one that looks like a giant macaroon!

Your films are a great way to start the evening after a long day working. I am like camping on the couch with you guys, with my bowl of salad or a plate of hot food on my lap. Not sharing lol. I love the scenery of this film especially, and also all the detail and educational parts you guys always put in it. I go camping tomorrow, bicycle to the Dutch coast, next day a long hike in the dune forest and the day after bicycle home. Being outside gives so much energy :)

I really like all your videos and you guys being not so old yet so mature in your concepts in life and it’s aspects ! I am sad to see the mankind’s are ruining the beautiful nature and only in the deep woods we can enjoy the beautiful nature and it’s meaning helps us to be content without all fancy materials that people spend so much time to acquire them ! Thank you so much for your zeal for the nature and appreciating the simpleness in life!
