My grandson passed thru the room as I was watching this. At the time, you were tasting each other's drink, and he thought it was weird. I told him you were cousins, but back in my days, it was normal for friends to pass drinks back and forth. I think it shows your love, trust, and respect for each other.

I LOVE your comments about when people call midwestern landscapes dull and boring. I couldn’t agree with you more. In my opinion, when you take away the stunning landscapes that you may see at Yosemite or The Grand Canyon, you’re forced to notice and appreciate the smaller things that nature has to offer. For example, if I’m on the edge of a cliff looking at a view of the mountains, the mountains are all I can see and be amazed by. Its difficult to take your eyes away and notice the surrounding sounds, the life growing all over a fallen log, the critters scrambling at your feet, or even your own thoughts. But when I hike in Ohio I notice all of those things more than I ever could in a more scenic spot. And I enjoy my hikes in Ohio almost more than the ones I’ve done all over the world, including places like the Swiss Alps and the American west.
@pcofranc4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing these insights especially because you have tasted some of the best the planet has to offer. At first I didn't like the look of the place because I live in San Diego and I'm from CT and the woods looked so plain but after watching several times I connected with what they / you are saying + benefits of no bugs and humidity.
@connormoriarty4 жыл бұрын
@@pcofranc Exactly. For example, I went hiking in Ohio this weekend at Cuyahoga Valley National Park. And the hike to an untrained eye was just a trail and trees, no mountains or lakes or cliffs. But the entire hike we were walking by fossilized sandstone and other oceanic fossils from thousands if not millions of years ago. You can literally see the layers of the ocean and the way the waves swept the stone and sometimes even fossils. It's remarkable. That type of history is so underappreciated in the midwest.

Really enjoy your videos. I'm originally from Oregon but transplanted to Ohio in 92. Over the past few years I've been on a mission to explore areas close to me. I've been trying to get back to being more active and show my 15 year old a different side of life then xbox and snapchat. Your videos have inspired me to not be afraid to get out there and I think I may have found our first overnight camping trip in our home state. I thank you.

That sort of lifestyle takes money and full time world travel is usually reserved for the wealthy among us and lottery winners, lol. As awesome a channel as this is, I'd bet my last dollar people aren't getting wealthy from backpacking KZbin channels. If you are farsighted you should try making a fire with your glasses. Also, try the most traditional of them all, to carry fire to the next campsite. Once you learn to carry ember in a pouch you have a lot more gain from the tiresome firestarters like stick and bow or weather depending like magnifying. But then again the circle is complete and you can just as well carry a bic lighter... But it is still so fun to learn and play with. Thank you for yet another wonderful episode!

A small anime convention named Midoricon was at Shawnee State Park in 2013. The convention has always been at parks which is a nice switch-up from the urban sites of most conventions. It would have been great to see more of the park because it was the one time I made the 7-hour trip, but I was only there to relax and socialize. I only got views from near the lodge and cabins, but I saw some beautiful foothills and a wild lizard. Happy to see the lil guy since it was the only time I've seen a wild lizard...yet. :)
