Watch all the videos from the Japan 2019 trip here: • Japan 2019
In this video from Robby's trip to Japan in 2019, Robby and his friend Darrell took a ferry to Chiba Prefecture (just south of Tokyo across the bay) to see Mt. Nokogiri (also known as Nokogiriyama or 鋸山), translated roughly as the sawtooth mountain. This mountain used to be a rock quarry in the Edo period (roughly 1603 to 1868), but now is a popular hiking destination.
The remnants of the stone quarry were a really cool sight, but there were a ton of other interesting Japanese landmarks including the hyaku-shaku kannon (a giant relief statue), the nihonji temple daibutsu (a giant buddha statu), and jigoku nozoki (hell lookout). After climbing up the mountain, you can take a cable car back to the bottom.
If you have any questions, leave them in the comment section below. Thanks for watching!

Rattle snakes are also not aggressive unless you practically step on them. They even warn you to not get bit and be aware of them with their rattle. I never worry about rattle snakes while hiking because they have their own alarm system!

Wow. Your buddy Darrel took you to a Most Cool place. And to think it was his second choice! Makes you wonder what the first trail he chose is like. The vertical bluffs and stunning vistas, stairs worn from so many footsteps, ancient shrines, the ridges and precision cuts in the stone they carved makes me wonder how they did that. And you would have had to send a helicopter to come pick me up from the rope way parking lot dead end, I would have died on the stairs. Thanks for taking us along!

We were in Japan in November, mostly touring, so we saw lots of places but none for very long. And now I want to go straight back! There seem to be so many observatories in Japan, each one more epic than you'd think possible. Impeccable editing and filming as ever.

This video is superb, Robby. Of course all the videos you make are good, but there’s a rare magic in these scenes. Something about the pacing in the editing that matches the music really brings it together nicely. Hopefully someone on the “Travel Japan” tourism board sees this and gets you to make their ads. Well done.

Ahhh the Ocarina of Time forest temple 🎶 was perfect...I honestly 💭 that rock quarry type of place reminded me of the forest temple when you mentioned about how places like that could inspire the creation of the Legend of Zelda & I was so pleasantly surprised as I heard the forest temple 🎶 suddenly start playing😁👍🏻👍🏻.Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask are STILL my favorite Zelda games to this day because they touched upon really deep topics like transitioning from a child & being a adult, the loneliness of not being recognized by others either in a strange new land or due to many years passing, both the lighter & darker aspects of humanity, etc🙂.I played those games as a little girl & they still have a impact on me even now as a adult.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. The editing is fantastic. Your eye for what is captured is spot on - lingering on just the right subject and for just the right amount of time. I just got back from Japan a couple of days ago and miss it like crazy already. Near the end of this vid, there's a shot of you walking through Oazu in Marunouchi. I stayed in the hotel attached to it.

places like japan and china that are so ancient (i mean ALL the lands in the world are ancient) but these places are the ones who KEPT these temples are carvings and sacred places/spaces (unlike colonizing people who strive to tear down and ruin ancient things) are so beautiful I cant articulate the words that i feel when I see images of them. not still photos, they dont wow me, but videos, my god, makes me want to jump on a plane and live in these places for short times and move on.

The fast staccato strings @ 5:40...perfect track for that - guessing this was the Fabian Tell stuff? And the combination of cut-marks and moss/vegetation growth on those quarry walls makes it look more like the walls of an epic castle or some ancient structure. Super cool!
