On this trip we used a Takacat inflatable boat with a Torqeedo electric motor. We started at the Red Bridge River Access on the Manistee River and continued down towards Tippy Pond and Government Island. After passing those, we camped for the night. The next day we portaged across the Tippy Dam before continuing down the Manistee River. We then camped in the forest before the final day where we continued on towards Manistee Lake before getting to the town of Manistee and checking out the Manistee North Pier Lighthouse.
Thank you to www.greatlakeswatercraft.com for loaning us the boat! Check out his website if you're interested in the same boat we used.

Would never put it past you all, but I appreciate you guys going back for the pieces of the propeller. While some may view the LNT (Leave No Trace) principles as strict, to me, there is no feeling more free than going into nature, getting everything you want out of your experience while living in harmony with your surroundings, not doing anything to negatively impact the balance of things, and leaving things better than how you found them. Balance and harmony....who knew right? 🙂

All after Cohobend: The log strune area was 'Devils Elbow.' That 1st big bare bank you pasted was called the Clay Bank. Clay Bank bayou to Clay Bank Lk was just before it. I was fishing below the Clay Bank when a slide slipped down the bank. The 2nd big bank with house after it was the Sand Bank, around the next corner was a straight 4' shallow stretch called 'The Mile.' The Highway was M55.

Grew up and spent my summers at Insta Launch campground. Helping my grandparents who owned it at the time. Located right where the river ends into Manistee Lake. Which then leads out to Lake Michigan through the city of Manistee. My grandfather and uncles. (His sons) were all charter captains....I miss those day😊

As I am successfully past that age when certain things can’t be said out loud, let me tell you, when I was younger, the female dilemmas regarding hiking, camping, boating, all sorts of outdoor ventures, seemed to be awfully overwhelming, starting with a minor one like shaving legs, or not(!?)… There were moments when I dreamed to be a man in my next life. What a vast level of freedom that would bring! I have mastered my freedom by now, no need to change a gender, but, oh my, I would be so jealous if I happened to go back in time and watch you young men being so relax and free from “champagne problem” of an old days young girl! I cannot express how much I enjoyed watching your boat saga! Special thank you for being environmentally thoughtful. Now off I go to revise my Star Trek 😉

Tip: Take large tortillas instead and use those for thin pizza crust. You can get them in 10 and 20 count bags, so no running out of crust (plus the ingredients will get hot quicker, and tortillas are cheaper). I make tortilla pizzas in the oven all the time. 7 minutes at 425.
