Sometimes that's a hard decision, because it's usually pre-dawn and blasting winter. He's a time when I lived in Michigan where a 'last minute decision' paid off. I was alone drifting flies for steelhead, wading the White river with low success. While walking back to the car to try another part of the river, I stumbled and fell while crossing. In the dead of winter and soaking wet, I knew I had to hurry. I got back to the car, stripped my wet stuff off and hung it on the passenger seat to dry. Dejected as hell, I started home. I got to M37 at White Cloud and a thought crossed my head. If I turn right, I go back to GR and I'm done for the day. But if I turn left, I can run up to the PM and maybe salvage the day. I reached over to find my clothes were already half dry, and turned left. That was around forty years ago, and for the last 38 of those years I've been chasing chrome here in Oregon. My memories here are many, but that day on the PM will forever stand out as one of the top days I *EVER* had fly fishing for steelhead. In Michigan *_OR_* Oregon.

Except Salmon barely reproduce in the rivers. That’s why we have fish ladders in Michigan. The rivers lack stone. Salmon are transplanted every year in MIchigan

My friends and I fish on Bestie river every October and honestly it's so good seeing DNR keep an eye out on people who intentionally snag salmon. Awesome video man!

We live a mile from the Bestie river. It is great, and so are the locals keeping any eye out🤙

Crazy how subtle the bit of a steelhead can be, very deceiving at times.
@philipkeeler99972 жыл бұрын
Thats why you set every legitimate bobber down bump. Rookies often miss the subtlety and figure erroneously a slight bottom snag.
@gunsgonewilder50582 жыл бұрын
@@philipkeeler9997 I learned that years ago fishing the mouth of Elk Creek in Erie. At first I thought it was just some smaller bait fish messing with the maggots on my mini foo jig, all it took was that one sharp hook set on a bobber wiggle and it was fish on with ever wiggle there after.

Awesome video. Love steelhead fishing on the Manistee

Why is so difficult to get what you will consume? The fish are big, one is enough to feed a family!! People please enjoy the activity and let them do their job so our next generations can enjoy to!!!

Why would you snag/poach a bunch of boots like that?! 🤣🤦♂️

As a young man I was so ignorant and kept a lot of what I caught usually limit everytime! As I have had time to matured I only tend to keep maybe one or two fish but tend to catch and release. We live in a delicate eco system and I want to be able to show my son these lakes and rivers I've loved to fish
@ZSIY2 жыл бұрын
im sorry but those fish dont even look edible... idek why someone would want to keep them anyways. looks like dog or cat food to me.

These fish are so delicious that I put 87 servings of them in my freezer..I Love them
@AdventureChasing2 жыл бұрын
There are good ways to cook them, they’re just not comparable to fresh ocean or lake salmon.

@@AdventureChasing yeah I live on the west coast so for a lot of us we wouldn’t even touch those fish. But to each is there own.

Been missing you brotha I’m getting so tired of seeing people snag fish from one side of the continent to the other I mean if you can’t get the fish to take your bait naturally go home and try another day idk it’s just disgusting how desperate people get I haven’t even gotten a fish This fall but I’m still out here grinding legally

Looking forward to story time! That's a crazy amount of salmon snagged. I hope they confiscated their vehicles and everything.
@gregoryfuzi47452 жыл бұрын
they have the ability to confiscate anything that was used in the illegal practice of taking fish or the crime. Your boat, truck or car if you drove you're fishing gear. and maybe get a search warrant for your home if the judge allows it. they already have you for illegal fishing practices. If they want to push the issue. be
