In this video, Kyle and Mike travel a nearly 30+mile round trip in search of King Salmon off of the Manitou Islands. Kyle also features the largest exposed shipwreck in the Great Lakes and highlights some of the histories behind the ship. After a day filled with adventure, we then head to the kitchen where Maggie shows us how to make a delicious salmon lox recipe!
Thanks for watching!

As I sit at my kitchen table changing pads in my clips for my offshore boards , this video pops up. Great adventure from start to finish. Beautiful big kings. Killer set up for lunch an a relaxing break. Footage of the shipwreck was outstanding. Then top it off , from water to table segment with Maggie. Her new best one liner "This really rocks" her facial expression said it all. Great video again.

Been really enjoying the videos. I'm an Olcott NY local, and new to salmon trolling on Lake Ontario (I used to mainly fish for bass). I am a big fan of videos that go through setup, catching fish, then recipes and cooking. Great format- don't change a thing!

Great video have a similar recipe but we use 1/2 salt 1/2 sugar then place it in the smoker between 60 and 80 degrees for a few hours. Gives it that smoked flavor without cooking the fish.

You can desalinate it by resting in ice water then leaving uncovered on a cooling rack in the refrigerator until it is firm. If you do it in the fall or winter you can cold smoke it. Generally the grocery store will have cold smoked salmon as well, at least here north of the border.

Nicely done, thank you. I’ll bet you $20 that if you remove the skin, pin bones, and lateral line first (before salt curing), you could cut the curing time from 36 to 24 hours.😊
