You missed the Viking fortress in Helsingborg when you was there. besides that great video. And go and have a great fika with your grandparents! ☕☕
@candytechadventures10 ай бұрын
Unfortunately yes. There is so much to see in Sweden and just not enough time while trying to get from place to place the way we were hahaha. My grandparents loved having fika 😊. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, thank you!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed them, and its nice to hear I make a good guide 😁. I know I can be awkward at times and so I try very hard when filming to not be too weird hahaha.

Love the vibe of your videos. Now I am anticipating the Gothenburg episode. I hope you all had a pleasant stay in my hometown.
@candytechadventures10 ай бұрын
Thank you! I'm happy to hear that :). I don't want to get your hopes up. I didn't film all to much in Gothenburg unfortunately. The family wanted to do shopping and not really explore any of the history things I was hoping to see, but we did make it to a naval museum. I very much need to go back and see more of Gothenburg.

Love these videos, keep them coming! When you drove through Smygehuk you were close to the most southern point of the Scandinavian peninsula. I remember the place because I did my "final exercise" for my military service in the Skåne region, and we made a trip out to the most southern point 😄 From Smygehuk you have a bit over 2000 kilometers to Swedens northern point Treriksröset. Or 22 hours by car! Between Smygehuk and Rome (Italy) its 1966 km 😆
@candytechadventures10 ай бұрын
Thank you! :) We certainly have a few more of the Sweden Adventures coming hahah. That's awesome! I didn't realize that it was that close to the most southern point. Sounds like a pretty fantastic trip I'm sure. Hahaha only 1966km lol. I'm hoping the next time I'm in Sweden I get to go more north and explore up there as well.

Found your channel today and as a person who've lived his entire life in Sweden it's really fun to see the country threw the eyes of someone else. Ooh and don't worry about the pronunciation, our language is kinda weird. Great videos!

Well I'm glad I was able to share a new perspective 😁. I've been told its weird and tricky, but for me that's challenge accepted hahah. Thank you!

Yes, you do look like you could be Swedish, so not strange at all if the store clerk started to speak to you in our language! I have the opposite problem sometimes, I'm ethnically Swedish, but I have dark eyes and hair. We are not all blonde :) Sometimes people mistake me for a foreigner, which is both funny and frustrating at the same time. They start speaking English to me, and I just look at them and reply in Swedish. Usually ends up with a red face and a few laughs :)
@candytechadventures10 ай бұрын
Ah so the eye color is part of the traits. I never really thought about it before. True we are not all blonde lol. My grandma is blonde and always talked about how the majority of her cousins were too. I just guessed that the majority would be blonde hahaha. I also blame the film and television industry, because when ever they portray a Swedish character they always seem to make them super blonde (at least in the American industry). I could see that being funny and frustrating indeed. Although, an advantage is if you maybe didn't want to talk to someone you could fake being a foreigner to avoid conversation at times haha.
@vicolin612610 ай бұрын
@@candytechadventures Yeah, I don't know the exact stats or anything, but there are a lot of blonde people here, which feeds the stereotype, hehe. For example, about 60% of my class in elementary school were blonde, or blonde-ish. Tbh, you don't really take much notice about it here, as it is quite common. The most common variant would be dark-blonde, I believe. Platina-and very light blonde variants are more uncommon. I was yellow/gold-blonde until about 5 years old, then turned brown. Little gold still on the head if you look close, and a bit in my beard. In more "touristy" areas, Swedes assume I'm from the English-speaking part of the world, while actual tourists seem to think I look Swedish-enough to ask about directions. *shrug* amusing nonetheless.
@candytechadventures10 ай бұрын
Yes there are and so I can see how it's been fed hahaha. Huh, I guess that makes sense. Why would you think about it much if you live there. My grandmothers hair was very light blonde as a child and went more to a darker blonde as she got older. As she got older though it got lighter again before white came through. I wonder why it went from blonde to brown at the age of 5, that's very interesting. Hahahah you're in an interesting middle ground then in the touristy areas. At least you find amusement in it though :)

And once again i would like to remind you that when you was in stockholm you could have go to the island Björkö and visitid the viking villige. Or you could have from stockholm taken the ferry to the island Gotland and visit the city Visby, famous for it´s ringwall. Visby was an important city during the hansa period

When it comes to pronunciation remember that Duolingo is probably using Stockholm's dialect and you have just spent several days in Skåne which was Danish until 'only' about 300 years ago . . . Halland and further north to Gothenburg/ Göteberg will sound different again!
@candytechadventures10 ай бұрын
Really Stockholm's dialect, I never even thought about the different dialects. Are they fairly different depending on which part of Sweden you are in? Are there key things that would indicate which dialect you are hearing?

Surprised you don't have more viewers :) Maybe you explained it somewhere, but do you have/had any relatives living here or something? Not that many Americans coming over here :). Cool video!
@candytechadventures10 ай бұрын
Awe, thank you. :) It's probably because I don't make my videos the way most channels that trend do. Due to that the algorithm doesn't like me as much I'm sure hahaha. I'm okay with it though. I'd rather keep my casual style than try to fit into the mold everyone else is making. I do. I have a rather large family out there actually hahah. We are originally from Mjöbäck, and a good amount of the family still lives there. Others have spread out to other areas but not too far. We even have one cousin that I got to face time with that lives in Northern Sweden. A few of my cousins would absolutely love to see me on a show called "All For Sweden". I unfortunately missed the deadline to apply for this next season, but perhaps the one after that. :) I wonder why not many Americans come over. It's an absolutely beautiful country with so much to offer as far as nature, history, and more. I can see how money might be a factor, but it's well worth saving up to go.

😊Hello again. Intresting to se that you mostly look for medieval stuff. Even the musik! When in Helsingborg a thing is to take the ferrys back and forth to Helsingör/ Denmark! It`s called to "TURA" in swedish.Takes 20 min one way. You typically have lunc/dinner and drink🍻😋while going back and forth a couple of times wihtout getting of. Haha you really trash talk Duolingo🤣! Try Google translate. You type in the swedish word then klick on the speaker and you hear the word in swedish. The sities I tried worked just fine! And Yeay! You visited the town I grew up in. Halmstad. The name I think origins from the 13th century. Halm= straw stad= town. Most buildings had thatched roofs. Tourist season in Halmstad is mid june to mid august. It`s most known for the best beaches in Sweden! Long beaches with golden sand. My motto: "15 min to city center, 15 min to beach, 15 min to forest, with bicycle!!! The castle of Halmstad is office for the Governor of the town. I`s from 1615. I hope you didn`t miss Varbergs fästning on your way north?! (The castle of Varberg). ATB.

Hahaha yeah I really like medieval stuff. Not sure why, but it's always fascinated me. Oohh a Tura, okay noted for next time I'm there for sure. Yeah Duolingo made me sad with how much I learned was taught to me wrong on the app hahah. I've started using Google translate a lot more now to double check things. Straw town, I wonder what they sold in the beginning hahaha. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos, and thank you so much for the information and fun conversation 😁

We unfortunately didn't make it to that castle either. Sweden has a lot more castles than I ever realized it had 🤣
