Stumbled upon this video and ironically we use to live in Fort William and moved back to England 10 years or so ago where we are originally from! Fort William is so breathtaking with its beautiful scenery and I use to go skiing at the nearby mountains when I was in school there! I grew up there, went to both primary and high school there too. Ben Nevis was so beautiful in winter especially if we got snow there!

Well done! My best friend Annie and I climbed it this July. It was wonderful. Knees did hurt on way down. It really did something to be on the top. Well done Shawn, how great is this place! I absolutely want to experience it now! In case you want to hike again, a tip from someone who lives in the Swiss Alps: do the oignon, meaning, bring layers that you'll be able to remove or add as you go. A t-shirt, hoodie and rain/windcoat + a backbapck with large straps (so that it doesn't hurt your back and shoulders) that can contain it all are a must in my opinion. And if you want to come to Switzerland on more climbing adventures, I'd be happy to show you around!

Lovely view from the top. Well done Shawn!! 👌 Only got to see it once though, as was very cold, windy & misty the other time. Even stayed in the hut at the summit. No lovely cafe or hotel at the top though. Nothing like Snowdon. Better than Scarfell Pike though. An adventure never the less. If you want to stay at the top, make sure to bring a portaloo, sleeping bag, warm clothing, head light & lots of water & food. I only had a bottle of coke, iron bru, no food & slept in my clothes on the hard wooden surface in the hut during my unplanned night stay. An adventure non the less & got to see the sun set & rise on one of the very few days of clear & warm weather, at the very top of the UK. Awesome!! 👌🏴

Hey Shawn, the feeling you're describing is one of the main reasons I love going hiking. You don't always have to climb a whole mountain to get fantastic views. Not only are you as good as but, in a lot of cases, better than professional presenters. No matter what you're doing, its never boring. And this time, i think its the effect your adventure had on you personally that really drew me in. If the BBC or the Travel Channel doesn't contact you to give you your own travel series, they are insane. Good luck with all your adventures to come. I think you just leveled up. ;)

Weldone. Great achievement! Mountain climbing is great. If you want to drink the water you need to put a tablet in there to purify the water. Its tastes abit metallic, I like to add some squash. Even if it looks clean you never know what's further up stream. As sad as it is there could be a dead sheep somewhere along the flow ect. You can use a water purifier but its alot of hassle and more to carry. I would say that whilst it is mostly a well trodden path and unlike most mountains, Ben Nevis does see alot of walkers. I would definitively say be prepared and safe. Couple of tips -water, so important, small sips to replace the salts in the body - definitely eat beforehand, porridge or beans on toast is a great start up. My favourite mountain snack is malt loaf. Energy bars are great (dark chocolate mint) and energy gels that give you a 20 minute hit of energy. Little sugars and different to caffeine. Highly recommend! - sturdy walking boots, trainers are okay for comfort. But a good boot will support your feet especially when walking down as well as more protection from blisters in addition to being better in weather like rain. - a good coat that is lightweight and isotex - a map. You can buy maps and link it to your phone so that you can follow a map and compass as well as track where you are on your phone for double safety measures (take a portable charger) because you should always know the route. Also if there was ever a white out follow the rock piles and the map it's easy to fall off and not follow a straight line. Even if you think you are. Most of all enjoy. Fantastic experience. Its great doing the bigger mountains. But have a look at some smaller ones to. They offer some great views. If you are going snowdon again I recommend climbing glyder fawr and glyder fach and trefan. And on the day you do snowdon, theres another peak next to it that everybody misses but has better views!! Top effort weldone!! 😊

A very big well done to you. I did the Watkin path on Snowdon a couple of years ago and Ben Nevis was by far harder for me, I struggled a lot, but saying that, the sun was absolutely scorching the entire way up and I actually got very badly sunburnt! That meant the views I got were amazing the whole way up, down and at the peak which I am extremely grateful for! It took me a good 6 hours going slowly and resting every so often to finally reach the peak but I am so glad I did it! Like you say, challenging but absolutely worth it for the exceptional views and the experience. Fantastic vlog Shawn, I actually have watched this quite a few times to get a good idea for the climb and now since doing it a few days ago I have watched it again to put it into perspective even more. Love your positive attitude, once again, a big well done :)

Outstanding Shawn 👌👏👌 your videos are always 110% perfect and entertaining ! to climb Ben Nevis without any special gear is great motivation to anyone wanting to go up, you dont need to spend lots £££ to have an adventure. Hope your family and friends have all gave you a big pat on the back 👏👏👏 well done its harder than you think and down is always harder. I love going to Aviemore not too far from there at xmas/newyear to camp at Rothiemurcus in the snow great experiance, plus on new years day going up the Cairngorm Funicular Railway, nice hot coffee at the top and watching all the snow and snowboarders skiers etc, great day, the Hilton hotel is lovely near the campsite and the Loch, you should try it sometime with Charlotte youl both have a ball 👌, well done again i bet you felt it on your legs driving after your climb , mine were knackered too after it, done it 4 times its well worth it, you done the area proud, take care and kp safe 🤗👏👌 id watch your videos b4 any tv channel 4 sure 😉

Excellent adventure. Well done. I did the flight from Glasgow to Barra last year . The only airport where you land on a beach. Amazing. You should give that a go. 👍

Fantastic effort my friend. I have been up there 4 times and I feel your pain. Please get yourself a good pair of boots so you can ease a little bit of that pain. Great video 👍💪🙏😎

well done, was great to see your enjoyment and enthusiasm, Ive done it 4 times and each time the climb has been different due to the conditions, but all equally enjoyable. Im hoping to climb it 7 days running next year to raise funds for the scottish association of mental health, dont know if it is acheiveable but watching yours and others videos has me excitid about the challenge. all the best and keep doing what you do

Well Done Shawn! As a long time follower of TPW who also loves hiking & hill walking this was great to watch! You did the right thing bringing a map & compass as well as some extra layers because you never know what could happen so well done for doing a bit of research! If you do want to try some more mountains the best way to help your knees on the descent is a pair of anti shock walking poles, as well as some proper hiking boots. You don’t have to spend thousands of pounds as even some cheaper ones are better than nothing if you’re just starting out! And instead of jeans I’d wear something that drys a little quicker incase you get caught in some unexpected rainfall (pretty common in Scotland). Another popular mountain to climb up here is Ben Lomond which gives great views of Loch Lomond & the mountains beyond on a clear day. Its only an hours drive from Glasgow so it’s easy to reach & well worth a visit. Hope to see you out on the hills some day enjoying our stunning country! 🏴

Congratulations on reaching the summit, now what about taking on the three peaks challenge, climbing the three tallest mountains in the Uk. Ben Nevis (Scotland) Scarfell pike (England) and Mount Snowdon (Wales) all within 24 Hours.😉👍

I've always wanted to do this. You get a great view from the nearby cable cars but it's not the same. I'm hoping i can do this next year. Well done on pulling this off Shawn
