What a wonderful video! I don’t think anyone minded that ‘Rant’ at the end. Would hardly even call it rant as you had a point and despite the difficulties, you still manage to bring out the positives rather than just complaining! You’re clearly a lovely guy and you inspire me through your positive attitude, the way you appreciate nature (Never taking it for granted) and the effort you put into your videos!

Thanks, Murray. I'll never be able to climb another mountain, but was with you all the way in this video. The only time I've seen Ben Nevis was in the distance, from Cairn Gorm, on a windy and rainy day in late September. The scenery in this video is truly beautiful, even with the fog. As for your rant, yes, you're right to voice those experiences.

Really great video Murray, thanks. I have done the CMD arete twice in winter, both with really poor visibility and snow, one was close to white-out. That time I managed to navigate off the arete before realising my mistake! The second time I picked up two stray lads from the south of England who had taken the Anoch Mor charlift and walked down the glen and up to Carn Mor Dearg! They basicaĺy said 'we are lost, where are we? can you help us?🙄. No mobiles or Spot in those days so it was me, my OS map and a silva compass in.the snow and a couple of cold daft lads in tow, dressed in doc martins boots seeking the relative safety of the Ben Nevis summit. I gave them a big telling-off, probably more than once, but they plied me with beer that night in compensation. My route then was up the tourist path, over the Nevis spur at the half way loch and down into the glen at the other side, over the river (seems crazy looking back but it's clearly possible - boots and socks off of course), then up CMD. So I have never summited Carn Mor! Your pronunciation was varied at best😂. My Gàidhlig-speaking friend told me it sounds like "Jah-rig" with a soft 'J'....nothing to do with Gerard, whoever he is!😂👍

Thank you for this. I have always wanted to show my son what I achieved in my youth. 1975 I sailed on the 3 masted schooner, Captain Scott out of fort William. We would sail around Highlands and Islands, be dropped of hike for 3 days and meet up with the schooner again. Are final hike was 2 days to the base of Nevis and took your route. Up and the path down. Going down. We had a couple of royal marine cadets who wanted to be the first watch back to the ship. So we jogged where ever possible all the way back to the lock and the ship. I was just 16. Dad said I came back a man. I just know now I struggle to get out of a car without help. But my memories are with me. [it was June 1975. The hot summer in living memory so a lot less snow back then and not as many walking up the path. And no one except our other watches and ourselves. I will be showing my son my achievement with your video.

Murray, your videos knock regular TV programs into the long grass or should I say into the nearest snowdrift. The question, is KZbin worth it? is of course, yes it is. For people like myself who are not going to go into the mountains the way you do, it's more than a breath of fresh air. It is as close to the experiences we can get and it is extremely valuable. I fully appreciate your Camera work which is just fine, especially with the Drone shots which are some of the best we could ever see on any platform. I have a KZbin channel myself and I know what skill needed to produce a good video, and you have those skills in spades. Not only that, your commentary and attitude towards safety and enthusiasm from the mountains complete the picture. Long may you explore and keep safe and healthy.

Outstanding Murray lad. The future missus and I did this in summer, in the mid 80’s, started at 11am and finished at the chip van on the loch side in Fort William at 10.30pm. Cracking day ... clear skies all day, the late start due to low cloud at sea level, and an Olympian level of persuasion on my part ... “it’s going to clear”, and boy, it did. It was an epic outing. Still together now, so it must not have put her off!

Please keep doing youtube Murray your videos have provided me with so much inspiration. I won the walkhighlands report of the month for January 2023 for my report on CMD, your video was a big inspiration for wanting to do it for sunrise. I can imagine youtube being a frustrating platform that seems heavily weighted on algorithms, video titles and the thumbnail. If you visit the lake District that is far worse for parking charges. I must admit full carparks and hundreds of people I find off-putting and prefer to seek solitude which im sure you relate with. Cheers Murray
