Kenai Peninsula - Exploring Soldotna, Kenai and Nikiski Alaska

We drove our Escape Trailer 21 from Seward to Soldotna Alaska in the Kenai Peninsula and stayed outside of town at Morgans Landing State Recreation Area (SRA). We really enjoyed the quiet camping and couldn't believe how few people were there even on the weekend. While searching for the best place to stay, we spotted a young bear along the side of the road. We knew momma bear was nearby so we cautiously captured some video from our truck.
The campground is a short drive from the town of Soldotna where we found hiking, a museum, a river walk along the Kenai river, brew pub, coffee, and more. We also found a few things just driving into town! Although we battled a few mosquitos on our walks, it was still worth it.
After exploring Soldotna, we spent a day driving out to the historic town of Kenai, Nikiski and Captain Cook State Recreation Area located right on the beach. On the way we saw multiple Moose with their young and managed to capture a little video.
While in Soldotna, we went on a King Salmon fishing trip which we'll share in our next video! Then it will be on to Homer Alaska.

Just came back ( to California) from our summer house in Sterling near Morgan’s Landing. Amazing how empty it was when we drove by in July. Do you fish like every other Alaskan? Got my wife hooked on sockeye fishing. No pun intended. Enjoy your videos.
