Great video. There is a neat thing to do with old tires but helps to have a lot of them. They make strong driveways or roads. You have to dig and level out the ground. Line them up in single height rows and columns. Completely pack insides with dirt and then cover with dirt and gravel. No more worries about washed out driveways. Some people have also used this method for cabin and/or off grid foundations.😊

Americans are obsessed by family and stating the importance of family. Here in Ireland, it's a given that doesn't need to be restated. Not criticizing you (really, I don't mean to), I just wonder what the basis of it is?. High divorce rates splitting families both physically and geographically perhaps?

Brings back memories! My late grandpa, my dad, and myself, all used to go to auctions like that. Usually when my dad went to them, he was going hoping to get a certain item that was on the sale bill. But my grandpa, and me, we went for the "entertainment value"... and to see if we could luck into some "great deals". Especially on small items. Both of us had the bad habit of buying a box of "junk" for $1 to $5 a box, sometimes not even knowing for certain if there was anything we could use.😂 Man, neither of the women I married, enjoyed going to the auctions. And they always wanted to know, "Why did you buy that junk?"😂 Unfortunately, due to my health, I haven't been to an auction in probably five years.🙁

@Fuch KZbin before I go any farther with an answer to your question....I need to ask you 2 questions of my own...#1) How old are you? And #2) Are you American? These are serious questions, and I would appreciate honest answers. Thank you.
@willhorting5317
@willhorting5317 2 жыл бұрын
@Fuch KZbin well, even though you have not answered my questions about how old you are; and whether you are from America...I am going to go ahead and answer YOUR questions.🤦‍♂️ And, based on your previous comments to me, I will assume that you are either an actual child; or the American English language is not the language that you normally speak; or you are simply trying to be a jerk. When I said "my late grandfather", I didn't mean that he was tardy, or behind schedule. In the way that I was using the word "late"...it is a way or form of saying that he has passed away. In other words, it means that he is dead. THAT is why I don't find your comments amusing.

love the auction video! brings back memories of when I used to go to them here north of Boston. nowadays auctions are pretty rare around here but they were great places to socialize and make connections with like minded folks. Silas, you would have liked an auction that took place at a factory down the street from me here in Beverly, MA. United Shoe Machinery Corp. was the world's largest maker of shoe-making machinery and in 1988 they auctioned off the contents of their 1.2 million sq foot facility, just enormous and packed with machines and parts from as far back as 1900! their factory was the world's largest reinforced concrete structure until the Hoover Dam was built.

@EfficientRVer

Not sure what the roof rack was off of, but today I'd sell it to someone building out a van to live/travel in. It could double as a little deck space if floored, or double as a stealthy place to put a solar panel. And possibly all of the above if an expensive walk-on strength solar panel is used. The channels or extrusions on the bottom of it are ideal for mounting a solar panel to. Plus it's retro/cool, bordering on badass.

I used to work for an auctioneer. What your Dad and the other scrapper did at that auction is called "Collusion". We used to throw people out of auctions if we caught them doing this. I guess all fair in business but it is an extremely frowned upon thing in the auction business. The property owner probably knew what happened and that's why he was so nasty.
@AdventuresMadeFromScratch
@AdventuresMadeFromScratch 2 жыл бұрын
It’s free market capitalism 😆 He had a chance to sell them for much more money but decided to gamble. Happens to the best of us.
@tomfournier4941
@tomfournier4941 2 жыл бұрын
@@AdventuresMadeFromScratch Definitely it is. We did take Collusion at auctions very seriously though. You've got to bear in mind that the auctioneer is working on a percentage basis. It's true that when he takes a job he takes a chance that it won't be profitable. Collusion creates an uneven playing field though so is not taken lightly. As you rightly said though, it is a free market and I'll add that it's to be expected that people will do things like that. It does create hard feelings with auctioneers and can result in being banned from future auctions as well.

@@AdventuresMadeFromScratch That's good to hear Silas, I got a lump in my throat when you mentioned crushing party or whatever. If it were up to my decision I'd splatter a gallon of cheap oil base paint on it, toss a couple hoods over the top, list it and until it sells use it for yard art. That's a classic, too bad I'm poor. By the way I'm a Ford man and a 327 Chevy man not Dodge, but wow, these oldies are awesome.

i’m not sure if you know this or not on the Chevy 283 i know you bought it for the Carburetor but the Old Chris Craft Powerboats used 283s marinized with Chris Craft bolt on Parts basically to basically turn them into Raw Water Cooled motors the 283s had a Forged Crank and that was what made them good for Marine Use because they could handle the extra Tourque put on them spinning a Propeller in the Water i restored a 1964 Chris Craft CabinCruiser in the early 90s and i needed a replacement motor at that time the 283 engines were getting difficult to find although through my LocalChevy guys i found one a guy had used to Restore a olImpala and sadly the car got totaled in a Collission right after the Restoration the guy actually was a Auto Mechanic and he pulled the motor thinking he would have another use for it in the future in reality it just got in his way so he wound up letting it go to me fairly cheap as when i found him i had Cash in my Pocket as far as i’m aware that Engine is still in my old boat i mention this because it might be a Market you weren’t aware of that group of people self included doesn’t mind spending Stupid Money on things we need to keep things Period Correct or As close to Factory as we can i know you mentioned it was Locked up but chances are a guy using it in a boat plans on going through it anyway i did the same with mine with the Help of my then Local Chevy Machine Shop guy i was lucky enough to be freinds with two local Brothers and Mechanics that restored Bel Airs and first GenerationCamaros plus raced them with their Garage name on them that was in a WashingtonD.C. Suburb and the Chevy guys were pretty tight they all knew one another ,used the same Local Shops and kept tabs on the Motors that were at one time in their Ownership i was a Woodworker myself played Around in Cars and Power boats and Ironically two of my Coworkers had owned a Locall very successfull Corvette Speed Shop and those guys got dibs on on most of the Wrecked Cars that Insurance Companies Totalled and those guys would pull the motors and warehouse them and sold them off cheapn as is i actually know wher two of those Motors made it into peoples Work Trucks one of which was a Old Grumman Box Truck my Company one time Owned as our Deleviry truck we blew the original SmallBlock and bought a old Corvette motor for a few hundred dollars at that time it was the cheapest route for us to get our Truck back on the Road
